Dont Blame The Ref

Post by ChrisA »

Each team had a decision go there way that shouldnt have, Orr's first try wasnt a try, and neither was Solomona's.

We lost that game through bad disipline and poor ball control, and poor defense and nothing else. I think it was 4 times we lost the ball or gave away a penalty and they scored straight after.
Certain players on our side did not deserve to be on a losing side, however at least half of them did, because they played poorly or are just not good enough. Yet again we see so many players who are not good enough to play for Wigan, Allen was anonymous again and a complete and utter waste of time, Wild was his usual self and just dies as soon as a hand is laid on him, Aspinwall tried as always but was just as clueless as usual, Hansen really needs to put some weight on and start running straighter because he dances about like a ponse everytime he gets the ball and rarely makes yards, and its pretty pathetic to watch him do it.

We just have to many players who are just not good enough, overall we were the poorer of the two sides and we did deserve to lose.

Our attack at times was abysmal, the ball would get to Moran or Orr and they would turn and look for runners and find players just stood there waitng for the ball, what good is that and how are Orr and Moran supposed to do anything when nobody runs for them, I cant wait for next season to get some experieced players in who know how to play the game because at times we look like amateurs.

I thought all our props were very good tonight, they all made yards when they where on the field and did what they are paid for, our back row apart from Tickle on the odd occasion was anonymous, very few times can I remember them even looking like they were going to break the line.

Orr and Moran were probing all night trying to create things in attack, Orr had a blinder and definatly didnt deserve to be on the losing side, overall they played well as a unit, and they are improving every game we play, but without support from the players around them they are fighting a losing battle.

As a whole the team looks incapable of playing decent rugby, if it gets to a point were we have to move the ball around there are to many players are not upto it and evertime the ball gets to them the either drop it or take the wrong option, we need some real class outwide, we are crying out for a quality centre who can take players and beat them, at the moment we dont have that.

We shouldnt have teams like Wakefield and Huddersfield doing the double over us, they are not good sides, they are avaerge sides who work hard, but unfortunately that is good enough to beat us this year.

As I said, we beat oursleves, the officials madea bad call, one for each side, so it's irrelevant. Although I guess it may be easier for some to blame the ref, while those who know rugby can really see why we lost the game, because we are not good enough, it really is that simple.

Now, ask yourself the question, what would your reaction have been if it had been Wigan scoring at the death and the ref had disallowed the try, of course it was a cock up fron Birkpatrick as he is known in this house, but equally it was also a superb try, why oh why did Moran dive over the ball for what would have been his 3rd try, have to admit though that our half backs tonight had more than a decent game and I never thought I would ever say that. :exc:

I would have been relieved to win the game, I wouldnt have been buzzing at how good we played as a team, the same things I mentioned about the same players would still be in my mind, after every game including wins you will notice I post the bad points I picked out from that game, I did exactly the same thing tonight.

*Edit, sorry I misread totally ian, it was a harcall to make, Kirkpatrick put the vide ref in a non win situation, it was his poor reffing and not the video ref.
