Goulding

Post by Wigan_forever1985 »

Firstly im a big fan of DG and I know many are on here his defence at times is nothing short of terrible.

His tackling technique is good and very few get through him when he is near by, the problem is his positioning. He is like a moth to a flame with the ball and the amount of times he leaves his winger stranded needs to be addressed. I think he needs to work more on his line position.

Also he has a tendency to scream out the line on his own either going for an intercept or tackle. I don't think that is a coached tactic as his opposite centre doesn't do that.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure

His performances have gone downhill and if Salford want him we should let him go to join the doctors group of misfits

Daz had a stinker of a game on Thursday but that doesn't turn him into a poor player overnight.
He has seldom let the club down, regularly turning out decent performances, sometimes out of position on the wing.
I think Daz is a very good centre and will miss him if he moves on.

Goulding missed two or three tackles plus the fend by Ferres who offloaded to Wardle who scored in the corner. I wouldn't say that was the usual Goulding or anywhere near being a decent display, more like a stinker really, but we're all entitled to our opinions.

I've come to see Daz as an integral part of the Daz 'n Josh show. Without his accustomed wing partner, he is Wise without Morecambe!

I think Daz is a top centre too Kitt, he had a poor game on Thursday, but he cant be labelled a poor player on one offish performance as some on here are trying to do.
His supply line to josh is integral in the try record josh now holds.

He missed no more than anyone else on our right hand side. Just one if I'm not mistaken. Wardle's try had more to do with Manfredi coming off his wing and Ferres was covered by Goulding when he came inside. It was mainly just excellent play by Ferres to draw the winger and offload at the right time.

Still it's not been a good year for Goulding and he's be behind Thornley, Gelling and Sarginson in the pecking order if all were fit. I don't think his defence is the weakness though.
Based on last seasons form I would have thought Daz wasn't too far off international consideration, but this season is no comparison to last year. As you say he is behind a fit Thornley, Gelling and Sarginson.
Whats your thoughts on Sarginson's best playing position.

Sorry but he isnt anywhere near being a top centre, he is often out of position when defending and I dont think he sets the world alight in attack. Carmont was twice the centre he is.

Carmont was twice the centre of anyone!
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
