J Tomkin's signs with immediate effect
Re: J Tomkin's signs with immediate effect
Its good to see Joel back but I would put him more in the good, solid player category rather than any sort of superstar. I just hope Lenegan hasnt blown a good chunk of the cap just to make a point when other areas of the team need strengthening.
Re: J Tomkin's signs with immediate effect
There is always a risk he may not regain his previous form. He's older and has been playing RU and I can remember Denis Betts not coming back the player he was when he left but if Joel does regain his old form the last thing he will be is in the "good solid player category".Dobby wrote:Its good to see Joel back but I would put him more in the good, solid player category rather than any sort of superstar. Back row forwards who are merely good, solid players don't score length of the field tries at Wembley when playing out of position and do not get poached by the rival code. They don't get picked for the international side either.
I suggest you get some old DVD's out and watch him play.
Everyone on here knows Hansen was a player I rated highly well Joel has Hansen's defence plus better attacking abilities. If people thought I was fed up when we sold Hansen you should have seen me when Joel went.

I totally agree DaveO, Joel is a fantastic RL player and maybe I am being naive but I think he will come back better.

I was exactly the same when he left usDaveO wrote:

But now I feel 'epic'

Footballers spend 90 minutes pretending they're injured. Rugby League players spend 80 minutes pretending they're not.

I posted that story about Jack on the NZW forum. It was also amusing to see nitsua on there ripping some poor guy a new one for having the temerity to spell Sam's name with a p. She really went to town on him!josie andrews wrote:Will do.East Stand Faithful wrote:Josie, pass on my best wishes to Sam he seems to be doing good now in NRL.
I reffed the odd game for St Pats in Sam's early days as a favour to my mate who coached at st Pats. The games at Blackbrook were always interesting.
My middle son went to school at SJFisher with Sam. My eldest doesn't get on with JT though.
Don't think Joel is as outgoing as Sam TBH but I always got on well with them all![]()
When Sam was over in Oz for his first tri nations,I think. He was interviewed by the media. You know how they always ask what's the funniest thing etc, well he said there were a few but the latest one was when a lady I know ask me to sign her dogs Wigan shirt!
That 'lady' was me![]()
He's also signed my walking stick but that has eventually worn off![]()

I can also remember the cheap penalties he used to give away too.DaveO wrote:There is always a risk he may not regain his previous form. I am stuck on the fence with his return.

RedVee Josie. I might get a bit of stick on there for being a Wigan fan but at the end of the day it tends to be good natured banter which is what I enjoy on a forum because that is what it should be all about. There are several knowledgeable rugby supporters on there as on here but none of them would tell another poster he is 'talking bollocks'. They have more class than that!josie andrews wrote:Welcome back Kitt missed youWhere have you been?

I did consider starting a 'Goodbye' thread and writing 10,000+ words about why I had become disillusioned with this site and wouldn't be posting much more but I don't have the kind of ego to make me think I would even be missed all that much.
