Sutton to Sydney
Heared three year deal for him

Re: Sutton to Sydney
I thought he might have finished his electrician apprenticeship / qualifications first. Maybe he's put them on hold.

Thats a massive loss in a position we are struggling with at the moment.
Looking at the clip of this kid its easy to see why the Aussies are interested in him plus with age on his side.
Another Sam Burgess in the making?

If true, best of luck to the lad. I hope we can retain some kind of hold/first refusal on him for his return. He could come back one hell of a player. Not such a huge loss for next year and possibly the following year because he shouldn't really be playing every week for a couple of seasons. The loss could be long term if he develops into a top player and didn't return to us. This reminds me a bit of the Matty Russell situation.
Re: Sutton to Sydney
If we are losing junior players to Oz we are in serious trouble as a sport never mind as a club.
As to him coming back a better player? What the hell for?

Although Ryan's move may be the start of a trend, most players leaving for Australia return within a couple of years because either they're not quite good enough or because they prefer to live in the U.K. Name one player that has gone to Aus at the age of 19 (not as an experienced player like Morely, Elis or Graham)and not returned within a couple of years. We just need to make certain that we get first choice when he returns.

Exactly, Matt Russell being a prime example and should never have even been released without any first option on a return.southportcdm wrote:Although Ryan's move may be the start of a trend, most players leaving for Australia return within a couple of years because either they're not quite good enough or because they prefer to live in the U.K. Name one player that has gone to Aus at the age of 19 (not as an experienced player like Morely, Elis or Graham)and not returned within a couple of years. Only released at the time, because the Club had Sam Tomkins and Lewis ahead of him in the pecking order for the full back position. Sam is now in the NRL while Tierney has not progressed.
Hence the signing of Bowen to fill the gap!

Re: Sutton to Sydney
Has anyone had confirmation of this or has this rumour taken over from the Hampshire to Saints one?

Was thinking the same. A vague rumour is being treated as fact by some. I would like more details on this one.shaunedwardsfanclub wrote:Has anyone had confirmation of this or has this rumour taken over from the Hampshire to Saints one?

They are paying for him and family to go have a look at things over there so I think it could be more than a vague rumour by the way he is on buttons at the moment hope we can keep him
