Matty Smith has signed a new 3 year deal. He wont be going anywhere. Neither will Taylor, Wigan have triggered the 1 year option on his deal.

As i said the contacts know nothing if they are saying this, this story originated from the stains scum as a reaction to the possibility of luke walsh going. Matty Smith is more than happy at Wigan, ask him and he'll make it perfectly clear he's staying.

As for calming down yes you are right but this rumour annoys me, living so close to that shit stain stadium i know exactly how and why it started. Nothing in it what so ever, as i said ask Matty
My take would be that the way Saints treated Matty he would never return.

I rate Williams very highly, he has been top quality since his first team debut and the more games he gets under his belt, the better he gets.

More and more he reminds me of a young Shaun Edwards and (hopefully) he will play at 6 for many years to come.

His partnership with Smith has so far been excellent and the two should stay in those positions. I also rate Smith, I don't think he gets the credit he deserves and talk that he will go back to Stains depresses me. We should go all out to keep him. At the start of the season everyone was worried about goal kicking post Pat. Matty has eased a lot of those worries, he is no Pat Richards, but he's good enough. In fact he is the top goal kicker in Super League, so congratulations to him for that.

Frightening how well Williams is progressing.

Smith is not flash so many fans, pundits do not recognise his qualities. Try scorers, a flash play get far more recognition by many fans, pundits. I would think his coaches & teammates recognise his quality.

Hasn't that rumour been knocked on the head with his signing a new contract? It was mentioned on RedVee and someone said he was relieved that he wouldn't be returning to Stains. Said he was a decent player but 'not Saints quality'

Bloody Hell, Ness Flowers would be Saints quality in their present state!

George W is a very good player but is only 19.
I think giving him the 6 shirt next year would be a move too far.
I do think we should be looking at Sarginson at 1 to replace Bowen. With Smith our permanent 7 then Ryan H and George to rotate at stand off with Sam Powell, also Sam to sub MM.
If I were SW I wouldn't give the 6 shirt to anyone next year unless they sign a stand off.

What constitutes a Stand Off or number 6 these days when you see a number 7 like Brough playing number 6, Joe Mellor who played number 6 in our Academy now playing number 7 while McGuire who is a supposed to be a number 6 playing number 7 because Sinfield who is a 13 is playing number 6. Even Wilkin who is a 11 or 12 plays on occasions number 6 and even number 7. Not to mention Ratchford who has played at numbers 1,6,7 and even 13.

Oh, and in case anyone has not noticed, Smith, Williams and even Powell have been alternating between numbers 6 and 7 in games.

The days of a player being rigid in one position does not exist these days.

Smith is our perm no.7 the rest will be rotated. SW said weeks ago he had been and intends moving GW & SP between half back and 9. Smith still stays there at half back.
That will continue into 2015 IMO with Hampshire added to the list

All depends Ted, something said weeks ago can be changed weeks later. Weeks ago I would have said give them equal opps but George may have forced Wane to change that idea with his recent efforts.

The big loser will be Logan Tomkins as I think Sam P will be the back up hooker / halfback if he does not get the starting HB spot.
