wembley

Post by menpond »

Have just walked across the old concrete domes, and can see the newARCH clearly in the mid distance. I intend to go again when we get there. Last time was beating Leeds ,and the M OFFIAH try. What are impressions of the stadium now compared to the old one? REGARDS

I liked the old stadium, and when you first saw the twin towers on match day it put a lump in your throat, it did with me anyway.
All that has gone now so it's lessened the feeling for me.
The new stadium is just average in every way that I see it now, and much more suited to the round ball fraternity who can fill all the executive and hospitality boxes on match day making the stadium look full, whereas it looks quite empty in certain areas on Challenge Cup days as those boxes with associated seats are not used.

How can anyone say the new Stadium is average when no matter where you are sat, you have a good view which was not the case for some at the old ground which was out of date.

All that is wrong inside is the seats in the centre being used by football supporters who never go to watch other sports and the lack of seating outside on the outside concourses.

I think it was a German bank that spent nearly a billion on the place. They will want to optimise their income. It does not seem the same, but some of that must be nostalgia for byegone days?

Nostalgia is an over used word for the old Wembley i thought it was crap tbh. It had a historical value which no stadium in the world has or ever will i believe.

I never watched a rugby but watched 2 football finals and the view was awful and seat well it was a bench tbh. New Wembley is impressive and looks fantastic but give me the millennium stadium which is a rugby stadium and not a football one.

As WW says the view from anywhere is good at the new Wembley.

Think Wembley missed a trick when they changed the walk up to recieve the cup.
I prefer Cardiff myself.

How many are saying they prefer Cardiff because of it being near to many pubs and bars?

Millenium is terrific, especially on the too few times its sunny. Went on a giant crawl with 3 blokes I met all around the area after we lost there. Cannot remember who beat us ,but we were rubbish. Probably SAINTS. How did we get to be in such a state?

I quite like the new Wembley. I had been to the old one a few times watching Everton & Wigan. I think the new one looks stunning and the arch gives you that "im here to watch MY team" feeling of pride like the twin towers once did. Plenty of toilets and bars inside and the seating is first class. Its still a bloody nightmare to get away from though and those seats in the middle "reserved" for corporate. they are never filled in RL games, its a shame.
we don't stop playing because we grow old ....... we grow old because we stop playing
