Wembley nearing a sellout foo Challenge Cup Final

Post by josie andrews »

The Rugby Football League (RFL) has announced that over 70,000 tickets have sold for this weekend’s Challenge Cup final at Wembley Stadium between Castleford Tigers and Leeds Rhinos.

Seats in the lower tiers at the 90,000 capacity Wembley are almost sold out, with RFL marketing director Mark Foster hailing the demand for tickets and urging supporters without one to act fast.

He said: “The demand to see this event has been so high that we have had to employ extra ticketing staff, just to cope with demand.

“The story has been similar at Leeds and Castleford, who have seen queues of fans lining up for tickets to Wembley, however both clubs do still have tickets remaining at the moment.

“Tickets in the lower tier of the stadium are also very nearly sold out, with less than 500 remaining, so we would urge fans to purchase their tickets now to avoid disappointment.”

Likewise Cas fan for the day.

Re; selling out. It would be interesting to see with both the CC and SL GF how many who attend pay the full price.

If over 70,000 have been sold that's another Challenge Cup Final that has out sold the Grand Final. In fact has any GF out sold the C Cup Final of the same year?

Please don't anyone tell SKY TV which is the biggest final in Rugby League.

Interesting point however I think timing and location play a part. The fact is in the challenge cup it's in the day in London, it's a day trip most will watch the rugby and hit the town at night in the nations capital

With the gf it's a night, so you have to be careful you don't start too early and it's smack bang in the middle of the rugby heart land so there isn't as much of an appeal other than to watch the final which if your team isn't playing you probably prefer to watch in sky.

When we went to wemberley to watch the 4 nations we could also have a drink in the stadium another thing banned at gf
