I think he's right CP, I did a post the other week complaining about all these offers and the lack of benefit of having a season ticket. Renewal comes along and without giving it a second thought 3 generations of my family got their season ticket.
If someone like many here and on cherry & white decide going to the match is too much trouble then how can they be classed as a supporter, they're a fan at best.
If you live in Morcambe and can only get to a limited amount of games you've more than enough shown your support for this club. Some make absolutely no effort to get to a game and they are normally the most vocal on forums/Facebook groups.
The club has bent over backwards to make season tickets affordable so there is no excuse for any real supporter of this club not to have one if you live in the surrounding areas

"What utter tosh" cp,
+1

If they can't play the best team available, or prepare correctly for the game in hand, as has happened many times this season, why should I believe?
Why have we signed second rate players (James)? What has happened to all of the transfer money that has been taken in?
I Know it is the entertainment industry but how Wigan played at Wakefield, Bradford, et al, should be taken off the comedy channel.

Resting players? If you can't play 80 minutes of rugby once a week with all of the facilities available to them it is time to pack in!

I am going to think long and hard about buying this coming season, the "rose tinted glasses" have come off, maybe the new league format may help? A couple of exciting new signings? I don't want to fill Mr Lenigans pockets with my hard earned, for little return.

Well said!

A true loyal supporter will always buy a season ticket, irrespective of other offers, shifts at work and most of all, lack of success.

so does that mean that those that can't afford tickets and travelling expenses are not true loyal supporters ?

Kaii that is not what WW is stating though;
A true loyal supporter will always buy a season ticket, irrespective of other offers, shifts at work and most of all, lack of success
WW was suggesting that unless you buy a season ticket you are not a true loyal supporter which IMO is incredulous tantamount to arrogant.

A season ticket only works if you attend X amount of games. I have bought season tickets for two decades and have not bought one in recent seasons. Does whether I buy a season ticket OR not alter who I am as a supporter?

Numerous supporters simply cannot attend EVERY game BUT that does not make them any better or worse supporters. If your work pattern or family life or something else prohibits the purchase of a season ticket then that makes perfect sense to me. Who in their right mind buys a season ticket knowing it would be financially stupid for them to do so.

Some supporters no matter how comparatively cheap RL is be able to afford to watch Wigan live game after game. Who am I or who is anybody to tell person X that they are not a true supporter because their finances do not permit them to buy a season ticket?

I hate categorizing / labelling supporters

For me a ST was good value when I attended Alliance at CP or Academy at Orrell matches AND/OR securing Cup Final/Big match tickets was not easy. (NOT THE CASE NOW) and of course never missed games.

Nobody walks in another persons shoes so nobody has the right to deem whether or not somebody else is a true supporter or not.

Season ticket £228 split in to 8 easy payments £28.50, works out at not even a pack of cigs a week. The can't afford it excuse is well and truly dead

It probably isn't that good value for money if you box clever and pick your matches. Think though the offers that season ticket holders miss out on are really aimed at floating supporters and even fans who can't make it to every game for whatever reason.

For me, I'm happy with that situation.

Think supporting the club in whatever way you can is the most important thing.

Kali, you are unfeeling and not understanding of the financial constraints of modern life, you must have a shallow life.

As I have said earlier, value for money is all that is asked.

Promises and platitudes do not make a good team.

Rugby League needs to re invent itself, to give the supporter the impetus to turn out to watch a match, Sky has killed the game as we knew it, the Challenge Cup was the "Golden Grail", now with their connivance it is the Premiership Cup?
The game used to sell itself, now it is being used as a "fill in" for "Sky Sports" 3 or 4 for most of the year.

I'll tell you something, Thursday evening I will be sat in the Berkeley with pint in hand, watching the game, I've been let down this season by the Rugby League and Wigan underselling themselves.

Can't believe we're having this nonsense "true supporter" debate again.

Anyway, that aside, I think the season ticket is good value for money and I'm sure everyone on here would have one if their personal circumstances allowed. I'm in the Josie camp of it being an essential purchase, budgeted for every year. Watching rugby league and supporting Wigan is my hobby.

As I've got older and other things have come along like bills and saving for a wedding so other things have dropped off for me so I can keep it that way. I go to the pub less, I go to see live music less for example than I did when I was single and living with my parents. That is my choice, others make theirs. We shouldn't criticise any one for making their choice either way (unless, of course, their choice was to go and watch St Helens instead!).

Whatever your thoughts on the state of the game, the way tickets are priced or marketed etc. a night watching rugby league still trumps a lot of other ways to spend your time in my book. Having it paid up and knowing I have my regular seat with my season ticket is something I personally like to have. I think everyone should feel the same but totally understand that not everyone will, let's not get personal in criticising others for supporting the club and enjoying the sport in different ways to ourselves folk.
