I won steve renouf's shirt in the shirt alert draw and it is identical to the replica ones.
That was quite a few years ago so maybe it has changed.

OK Thanks Jilly I've often wondered...Surely the Patrick ones would fall apart? Maybe that explains the kevlar padding round the front!!

You won "The Pearl's" shirt eh? WOW Don't suppose you want to part with it ???? Name your price! hehehehe!

Soz Welski, I won that shirt at the boxing day friendly fixture V saints. It was Renoufs first game and he scored his first try for wigan in it.
Even Flash Gordon thought he might want to keep it himself.

Its priceless!!!!!!

Unusual replicas

Post by Mike »

I quite like this year's kit - guess I'm in the minority. Getting back to the question, personally I like the Blue and White hoops away kits much better than these black ones.

How about Wigan's supporting gear though? The best replica kits that I remeber were the Red, Blue and White 'quartered' kit for Wembley (around 95?) and the Red and White vertical striped Ellgren kit for Wembley 93 (looked a bit like a Sunderland strip with a 93 on the back). Neither were ever played in but they were pretty good. Does anyone have one of the striped shirts? I'd quite like to get hold of one.

Stupid Question but ....

How do the players shirts differ from the "replica" ones?

When Ellgren made the lits, you could get a replica and a proper kit. The main difference is that the seams on the playes kit were double stitched (and they cost £45 rather than £30 for replicas). I would imagine that the players wear kits that are made out of rather more sturdy material than the replicas sold in the shops.

Maybe they should make the whole shirt out of the stuff they make the JJB logo out of!
