Is The Clean Sweep Possible?

Post by The booze hound »

Is it just my 'Cherry' tinted glasses or does anyone else think we have the potential to win all 3 trophies this year?
At the start to the middle of last season I felt our centres were weak links but given how much they both improved as the season progressed, so much so that I put Sarginson at least on a par with Joel Moon as the competitions best centre and Gelling sometimes being unstoppable (and cutting out his silly naive mistakes), with Budgie and Charnley on the flanks as good a finishers your likely to see, and having a pack head and shoulders above anything else in the league that we really could win all 3 pots.
I just hope Smith can kick the 2's in the big games.

Someone is going to do it eventually and imo, it's very possible it will be us this year.

Think it's the first time for a while that we are going into a season with a stronger squad than previously.

Our pack looks formidable, George Williams is already very capable and will only get better, plus we have players like Powell and future superstar Rocky to cover if needed.

The balance of the squad looks excellent.

Challenge cup and Grand Final victory will do. Did say recent centres were poor, and new kids were best we have had in years ,to general derision. To much insularity with Goulding, and Farrell. Up to gang of 3 to grow up and pick on ability. It means outvoting Wane, managing the props instead of trying to bully them, and getting the second row beefed up.If MB does not improve, replace with Hampshire.,or a winger.

The three trophies are possible but not likely.
Wire have a very good squad with strength in depth, not the pace of us but more experience. Our biggest rivals IMO.
Saints forwards are their weak link IMO with Manu, Soliola & Lanffrenchi gone that has to have an effect. Longy's coaching will improve their backs and half backs.
Catalans have a very good squad with Carney in, they are a real danger. They could pick up their first trophy if they can improve away form.

The three trophies will be won from those three and us. For us to win all three would take some doing.

Menpond the question that was asked was is the clean sweep possible. Then you go and bring into the forum your pet hate Liam Farrell. We are not insular re Farrell it's just that some supporters realize that Liam is a cracking player who represented England and Wigan very well in the 4 Nations.Goulding is no longer a Wigan player so why bring him into the mix.Get over your dislike of Liam he's admired by more supporters than yourself.

There is no drive in the Wigan side.Complacency and parochialism rules.Mcguire drove up standards. Gobbing off is not the same. Wane claiming to run the GB side and running a top OZ is a joke.,like appointng Farrell as an enforcer. We are in CLOUD CUCKOO LAND, at the moment.

Think you're in cloud cuckoo land menpond!!!

Give it a bloody rest.

He didn't say anything about being an NRL coach & if he was offered the England job he would want it to be part time!
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
