I listened to the Wish FM coverage, we can get net coverage at work.
It mentioned Moose being awarded MOM that seemed strange according to Bilko and the other radio pundit.
Just seen Dave O's thread, Gelling got three tries which seems a big positive plus the younger guns like Manfredi and Hampshire seeming to fit in.
Wakey fielding such a weakened side doesn't make it easy to decide if were getting better as there seemed to be some poor options taken with periods of sloppy play.
Based on this Wakey team and last years Wigan team this result would surely have been nearer 100 points on the board and not just the 50 we scored last night?

Blinking eck Panchita. After the past few weeks scoring 30 points would have been good, never mind 50.
Don't be fooled, it was a very competent display, not perfect but imo, 80% of the way there and something to be quite pleased about.

You are probably right we would have scored more because we still had pressure on their line at times and we hadn't the craft to get across the line. That passage of play near the end I mentioned being the best example of the difference you are getting at between this and last years team.

I have just watched the 2 mins highlights on Wigan TV and first off it was Clubb's try not Faz's that was one of the ones down to sloppy Wakefield defence but that said one of the interesting things I didn't pick up on at the game was the number of tries scored due to Wigan getting the ball away in the tackle/offloading. They look very good tries when you watch it back but you still have to ask yourself would this have been possible against a better defence?

If anyone uses phrases like "fantastic" or "brilliant" to describe the Wigan performance they are going over the top. There was some good play and some good performances particularly Bateman for me but still quite a bit to do.

Overall it should do their confidence some good but I think they are still some way from being a coherent team all on the same wavelength and despite the score our attack still lacks guile.

It's a pity Taylor left because a player like him in his first season here is the kind of player we are missing in the pack.

Taylor looked strong for Salford too on Thursday night, it's a real shame he didn't fit at Wigan.

Best performance this year so far, still not at our best. Looked far better with Micky on the pitch, and I got the impression wane was going to leave him off in second half until Logan was on and the team went flat ( as Micky came back on with full new strip on).
First time this year we've had a full back link up in play and offer an option and played well . I'd leave Bowen out next week also.
Far better defence just a few daft errors, but need to push on from this now. Manfredi looks good also

Fairly happy after that, we looked like a team playing together, defence and line speed much better, some nice off the cuff play and offloads, conversely we allowed too many offloads. Our passing was going to hand and for the most part was sticking. Rocky made a difference to the structures allowing options, George's kicking needs to get better.
Wakey were awful, but there were lots of improvements in the way we played as a team. And my impression was there were a lot more carries by the big men, anyone got the stats to prove this?

He did pass to his winger (twice) to put him in for tries and was in the right place to take a pass off J Tomkins himself to score. The dropped ball from Wakey will be the easiest try he will ever score and his other was from about 5 yards out when the ball came out of the tackle.

I think the big question is can he do well against the better teams.

Although he passed to his winger last night it still strikes me that most of the time when he gets the ball that is where the play ends as it rarely goes any further. Sometimes it ends in a score but if it doesn't most of the time, that is it.
