Gelling is the best centre at the club and top try scorer too so i believe,

Then the situation is worse than I believed and we need not one but two new centres.

Gelling - 4 try assists, 8 clean breaks, 16 offloads, 5 tries, 30 tackle busts, 919 metres

Sarge - 0 try assists, 2 clean breaks, 6 offloads, 1 try, 13 tackle busts, 620 metres

Of those 8 clean breaks how many times did the attack die with Gelling holding on to the ball? If I had to make a educated guess based on what I have seen I'd say all 8.

With the offloads I'd guess about 12 or so went nowhere sensible.

Most of these statistics don't mean much because unless the tackle busts and clean breaks etc are followed up by some good play they do not mean he is a good centre and more often than not they are not followed up by good play.

In any case the stats aren't that great compared to other players. Gelling is joint 10th with clean breaks and joint 11th on tackle busts (Watkins at Leds has made 44...).

So statistically he may be the best at the club but the reality? Well he just isn't that good a centre.

I wasn't trying to make Gelling look like a superstar by posting, it just shows he isn't as bad as some fans with agendas are making him out to be

Fair enough gells is a nice guy and always up for a laugh, you would have a good night out with him, but he has not got a rugby brain, he's dumb on the pitch it's all well and be being a trier but that doesn't win you games. If this is what's classed as being a good player then God help us people have just accepted mediocrity at wigan

People HAVE accepted mediocrity at Wigan and fair play to IL/SR/KR.
They've got what, 3 years to bask in the Double.
Should've built on that success, not let it slip.
The league isn't getting better, the good teams are getting weaker, closer to the lower clubs' standards.

They have. Retention of the 2013 squad plus one quality signing per season and we would have been taking all the goodies home!

It will start to hit home again in the gates. Nowt last year, nowt this I expect, and a team prone to brain farts in various quarters and a distinct lack of leadership and guile.
Friday was great and obviously the highlight of the season after some of the lack lustre dross on our travels.
It would take a brave man to put money on us winning a pot this season, given we can capitulate from having large leads.

When you look at other teams going through transition periods, why do they seem to do it better than we do.

Take Hull KR for example, something like 15 in and 16 out, if you ignore the nut job from Leeds.
I think Leeds will take the LLS by an embarrassing margin and win the GF, with probably the CC as well. Sadly.
