Sam T @ 6 for 2016?

Got something to discuss about RL in general? Then this is the place to post it.

I would expect this to be the cue for the majority of clubs to now vote against the marquee player proposal. If they can't have him they're going to make sure we have to pay heavily for it.

He will definitely bring back the glory and will be the key to unlock the talents of so many others in the team right now who posses decent rugby brains but just don't have that spark readily available to open doors that only Sam can. Very happy with this news provided he does come to Wigan but i suspect the deal is already done unless there's a ridiculous Union offer. It's a shame we couldn't get him with immediate effect he'd still be useful in his injured state.

Re: It's official, Sam Tomkins released from NZ Warriors contract

This has been taking place over several months. So in effect Sam has managed to complete a year of his contract before jumping ship.

Homesick? Single, shipped his car over, his best friend from the UK.

NZW / Wigan have known about this for some time. It seems dependent upon Roger Tuivasa-Sheck agreeing to sign for the Warriors, no RTS no release. There have also been increasing whispers re the marquee player being introduced. Perhaps this confirms that is going to happen.

Ultimately though Sam has failed in the NRL which is quite sad when one considers Mike Cooper has probably achieved more. Homesick or the NRL too tough, I take the latter. The former is a convenient excuse.

Hopefully Sam will fully recover from his injury and still offer the excellent SL that he once was. I just hope, it does not spell the end of Rocky at Wigan. It signals the end for the likes of Bowen and Tierney etc but an outside backline of Sam, Manfredi, Charnley, Sarginson, AN.OTHER offers lots of speed, finishing ability IMO.

There is the other option of loaning out the young players who aren't the finishing article. That needs us to get rocky signed up of course. But if the choice has to be made, I'd rather have a player who is the best in the league rather than one who could be.
How far behind Tomkins is Hampshire, and how long will it take for Hampshire to be a real talent in SL.
Personally I don't think its too far away, maybe another season and a half.
I also think he has the talent to be as good as Tomkins if not better, and I would stick with Rocky if that decision had to be made.
I personally can't see Rocky being the starting 1 or 6 for England in 18 months time, so I would say he is further behind Tomkins than you think. Nothing against Hampshire, he's good to watch and has speed to burn as well as getting a better all around game now, but I don't think he offers the same as Sam. Not sure anyone does, maybe Hardaker but he has more baggage.

How things change in less than two years.
But he's homesick PM

I would not be shocked to see the RFL announce the Marquee Rule in the next 3 months and then with Sam it's all about the money BUT he will get that at Wigan so he will sign.

I do not think Union are that interested in Sam T or any English backs at the moment. The world cup is probably even too soon for Sam B.

Are we maybe waiting for the bad news / good news scenario? I.e. 'so and so is leaving and we're sad to see him go but we're delighted to announce the signing of Sam Tomkins from 2016'

I wonder how many of those who praise him will turn against him if he signs for Leeds, Saints or Wire?
