WANE BALL
Re: WANE BALL
MICKW I stopped calling for Wane to be sacked when he got a new 3 year contract and the season started as it seemed pointless.I hope we do well this year and Wane finally comes good after probably throwing away 2 big trophies in 3 years, Have liked the way the club under IL is run. except for Wane.I want him to come good, cos he is the incumbent. If it was in my gift Iwould still sack him now, as Iwould not like to risk another of his cock ups.Time will tell re Cunningham. My approval of him is irrational, only foundation being superstition.NOTE Wane lack of a plan for a watertight side is part of to me his weakness. We have one inexperienced ,but vvv promising centre in Gelling. Injury to him and we could go to LEEDS in cuptie without a decent centre in the side. That is SLACK, Wane is slack, We still have some very good players.

Re: WANE BALL
For the first time this season we had a dry pitch and reasonable weather conditions. Consequently we were allowed to move the ball quickly and accurately. Along with Leeds we have the fastest backline in Superleague but we probably also have the most athletic pack. I'm really looking forward to the Magic weekend in Newcastle that should be a cracker of a game.

Despite this "every minute counts" nonsense that Sky are trying to sell to us, the key to winning the league is peaking in the second half of the season, as long as you're not too far adrift from the top at the halfway point.
I think Wane's got the side bubbling under nicely, and we're going to improve as the season develops from here on in. We've also got O'Loughlin and Charnley to come back into the side, two players who'd walk into any SL side. Flower's just come into the team like a new signing, and things have started clicking. As people have mentioned, the dryer pitches are only going to help Wigan. I don't think the team is quite there yet, but that potential to improve is blatantly apparent and that must scare the crap out of the other sides in the league.

Footballers spend 90 minutes pretending they're injured. Rugby League players spend 80 minutes pretending they're not.

Re: WANE BALL
I've said for a few years that Wigan are a dry weather rugby team.after all the flack I've had at work about how bad we had been I told the knockers exactly this.just think we need to be a bit( or lot) more conservative in damp conditions. Also I think our kicking game gets found out in wet conditions.

Re: WANE BALL
You would think so and I think if we continue offloading as and when it will but oddly our best results have come in wet weather when forced not to play Waneball. CC / GF wins. Even v Saints this season and then on a nice dry track at Salford we lost. I actually think Widnes could have beaten Wigan at Wembley during the glory years but they never got there and perhaps that says something.Firestarter wrote:I've said for a few years that Wigan are a dry weather rugby team.after all the flack I've had at work about how bad we had been I told the knockers exactly this.just think we need to be a bit( or lot) more conservative in damp conditions. In my lifetime Australian style RL has always been far more successful than any British style RL.
