Based on his track record, neither would I but it's taking a very long time for him to fit in to the side and that's a bit puzzling.cpwigan wrote:I would not write Patrick off.

Logan is 10yds too slow to be a halfback MP.menpond wrote:Suzieb, Logan Tomkins is a decent RL player in the making,as a scrumhalf. We cannot replace MM with a scrumhalf,as our backrow need MM to help out defensively.Wane is obsessed with half backs, will be his downfall sooner or later.

It is his one downside as even a hooker.Panchitta Marra wrote:Logan is 10yds too slow to be a halfback MP.menpond wrote:Suzieb, Logan Tomkins is a decent RL player in the making,as a scrumhalf. Is Sam Powell much faster? From watching he seems to have little threat as a running half from either 6/7 or 9 at the moment I would pick Logan at 9 if needed Mac could drop in at 13 as Logans best games seem to be when he plays more minutes.cpwigan wrote:It is his one downside as even a hooker.Panchitta Marra wrote:Logan is 10yds too slow to be a halfback MP.menpond wrote:Suzieb, Logan Tomkins is a decent RL player in the making,as a scrumhalf. Re: Sam powell
Powell is a squad player at best for me
Re: Sam powell
Oh and just in case my last post was a if needed we are stronger with Mac at 9. Logans hands have got better and he's hitting harder in the tackle than before maybe a slow burner.
Re: Sam powell
PM,you are 100% right re LTomkins. Good player for Leigh possibly, but offers nothing for Wigan.Same with the youngest Farrell. Deeply unhealthy to give players preferment on a name.We are increasingly back to slapdash player management, and the reduction in team solidarity that leads to. In addition we can see the expansive, read Waneball approach increasingly prevalent/ ,so its a giddy weekly roundabout from now on.Wane is not going to learn so we might as well enjoy the ride.[/list]

Powell is faster than Logan, but he isn't the fastest of halves by any means but neither is Matty Smith, Tim Smith and Terry Campese.lucky 13 wrote:Is Sam Powell much faster? Logan has improved from his time at Salford with the timing in his passing game and his runs from dummy half, but as far as being a first choice hooker I don't see that, neither do I see Sam Powell as a first choice half.
Re: Sam powell
I don't think Logans had any favours re his name in fact I think it's been a weight around his shoulders if his name was not Tomkins expectation would be less and we may just be giving him a little more credit. I think Powell has been more than given a chance he's done ok a lot like Logan, up to now I don't exactly move onto the edge of my seat when he gets the ball nor do I expect much more than a average at best performance from either. I do hope one will go on to be a SL player this though may not be the case, they both can cover and at this stage I'm happy enough with that. With names removed I see two young lads with a lot to prove I had Sam in front up until this season now Logan has pushed himself slightly ahead. Both lack a bit of pace both can tackle and seem capable of out passing Mac, both are way off what he offeres when he's on his A game.

Is that fact or thought on who's the quickest? I don't think Powell has shown enough for 7/6 who would you pick first for 9? It would have been Sam for me until now but Logan now, not much in it for me. Logan his hitting harder this season and his service from the floor looks crisper
