Once again the concept of sticking to Friday kick-offs to prevent confusion for fans has gone out of the window.
According to the infamous Bilko's site, the home and away games against Halifax in August have been moved from their respective Fridays to the following Sundays. So, the home game is moved from the 8th to the 10th, and the away game from the 29th to the 31st.
Thanks not at all Wigan. I've planned my holidays to avoid missing home games as much as possible to make the most of my season ticket but now I lose another game. I know it's only Halifax but I've got the whole month of August where I get to see no rugby at all (more than a month because of a wedding on the Saturday we play Widnes).
They say they hope to improve attendances, but Halifax only have 3 fans and they are no more likely to turn up on Sunday 10th than on the Friday, whilst the less-regular Wigan fans are hardly likely to be attracted by this particular fixture against the bottom club who may even have been relegated by that time. What a waste of time.

Re: fixture changes
I was certain that this fixture has been moved to prevent a clash with a Latics home game (we're not allowed to play on Friday night if there is a Saturday home game for Latics) - but a quick check has proved me wrong (Latics are away at Millwall).
I've been saying we should go back to Sundays (possibly evening k.o.s) to improve crowds but I'm not sure why they have picked Halifax to try this one out. Hull or Leeds or Cas would be a better experiement as they have decent sized support that (IMO) don't travel on Friday nights.
I do agree with Fraggle that it seems absolutely pointless to annouce that we were sticking to Fridays to avoid confusion - then changing the odd fixture half way through the season to maximise confusion.....

Re: Re: fixture changes
I am really annoyed.
Season ticket holder such as myself invest in the ticket because having seen a fixture list we can maximise attendance.
If you look at the original fixtures there were no home games between 9th August (day after 'Fax) and 24th August (day before Bradford game).
Looking around various message board there must be at least 10 people who have done like myself and planned a holiday in that window so as not to miss a home game.
If we can't rely on the fixture list, what is the point of a season ticket if AFTER you have purchased it the club starts mucking about with the fixtures?
As said it defeats the object of fixing the match day to Friday.

It is not a question of if you prefer Sunday's or not.
It is a question of the club changing the blinking fixture list for no reason. Some people have families and when the fixture list comes out stick the home games on a calendar and arrange to do other stuff on other days.
When the clubs makes arbitrary changes like this it totally screws up the planning.
It would not matter if match days were Sunday's. If they published a fixture list with games on a Sunday and then went and moved it the same way as they have done with this game, the complaint would still be the same.
You can't expect season ticket holders to put up with fixtures being moved such that it makes having a season ticket a waste of money.
