Re: Bridge to sign from Wire
The club should have thought of this before going with these three young players for this season in the first place.Wiganer Ted wrote:With both Gelling and Thornley injured and Sarginson as our only centre you can understand why.
Maybe not first choice centre for 2016/7 but an understandable signing if true.
I said before the season started it was stupid to go with such inexperience at the same time as one of them was out long term injured anyway. Two out injured and we have Joel in the centres.
Said this numerous times on here an RLfans.
So the club may be brining in a stop gap next season as it looks like the penny has finally dropped that they screwed up but what they should have done is sign a decent experienced centre in the first place for 2015 and beyond.
Bridge is not the answer and the club still needs to sign a decent centre not a stop gap as if Sarge, Gelling and Thornley are the automatic first choices because based on performances Sarge and Gelling have not convinced me and we have no idea how Thornley will go.

I'll bet he could well be a cheap option though?

Re: Bridge to sign from Wire
he may be a cheap option but we really need a good old centre who can teach our young lads a thing how to be a good centre. I don't personallythink bridge is up to that job myself. who plays centre for wakefield I am sure they have a decent centre/second row who is obviously going to be looking for a new club. there must be a decent centre in the championship who would be better
Re: Bridge to sign from Wire
We let a better centre go ,and the lad has just had to retire.

I would have bridge over sarge any day. I can't believe how overrated sarge is, oh hang on a minute I can because Hampshire is overrated on here.

I wonder if the people who let him go are rueing their decision in hindsight???
And I don't for one minute believe he left to "try something different"!! He was Wigan thru & thru just like Lockers just like Waney
