Personally id rather finish 4th in the league now
As it stand if we finish in 3rd we will play Leeds, Stains and Warrington AWAY!!
If we finish in 4th we will play Stains, Huddersfield and Catalan AWAY and Leeds/Warrington at home!

What I don't understand is why do we play Warrington away when they are below us in the table :conf: :conf:

Re: Super 8s
Wane Wants Two
Shaun Wane has challenged his Wigan team to win their final two regular Super League fixtures ahead of the Super 8s.
The Warriors face Widnes on Friday evening before their final game of the regular season next Thursday at Hull FC. They head into Round 22 in third place looking to kick-start a purple patch ahead of the business end of the season.
A win for the Warriors will help keep up the pressure on Leeds and St Helens with Wane's side knowing that a top two spot could prove important in the race for Old Trafford.
The team that finishes top after 23 rounds will host the second and third place teams in the Super 8s, a stark contrast to the team that finish third who have to travel to face the teams that finish first and second.
Speaking ahead of Friday's game with Widnes, Wane said: "They're two really important games, I'm not sure where we are going to end up playing and that's not really my concern but I just want to win these two games in a confident manner and play as well as we can."
The Warriors face the Vikings in a repeat of the 22-22 Round One draw. Wane admits he hasn't been watching reruns of that game this week:
"I can't take too much out of that first game as it's a totally different pitch, it's a much wider pitch at the DW and we intend to use it.
"Widnes have got a lot of past Wigan players in their team, they're playing a good brand of rugby, they turned Catalans over last week - although it wasn't a classic game the way they attacked was superb.
"We just need to make sure we challenge them in our attack and attack the way we can. If we throw shapes at them the way we did against Leeds then we give ourselves a chance to put some points on the board."
Denis Betts' team make the short trip over to Wigan without Kevin Brown who will miss the game through injury.
The Warriors Head Coach is still wary of the risk the Vikings pose.
"They still attack in similar ways," he said. "Kevin Brown is a great player and would be missed out of any team but I've been impressed with how they've played without him. They're going to challenge our defence and it's been a real defensive week for us, we just need to handle them and attack the way we can."
Wigan Warriors face Widnes Vikings in a crucial Round 22 Super League game at the DW. Tickets are available on the door for the South, East and North (away) stands with tickets available from the DW Stadium Ticket Office. Tickets are also available on the Ticket Hotline 0871 6633 552 and online CLICK HERE

I find it all very confusing ???? Why can't they leave well aloneMike wrote:We get a max of 4 home games. Even if we finish top we'd get 3 away games.

Re: Super 8s
I don't think it really matters who we have at home or away from home. We failed to win away at three of the current bottom four anyway, so we can lose to anyone away, better or worse teams. We need to win a big game or two away to demonstrate any ability to go and win at Old Trafford. It might actually be better to have teams sat below us at home though, as they are the teams we need to pick up most points from to make sure we stay top 4. Either way, away form needs to step up.

Re: Super 8s
The problem I have with this new format is that we are playing under the strap line 'Every game counts'
Well it doesn't.
You can finish 4th after the super 8's have finished and only have to win the semi final to make the Grand Final. Looking at the table its more than likely that the 4th placed side will have won as many games as theyve lost after 30? games. That's not right and certainly not 'every game counts'
IMO it should be the top two after super 8's has finished who compete for the grand final. That way every game really does count! Granted I can see a flaw in this, if 1st, 2nd, 3rd are 10 points clear of the rest when going into super 8's then it becomes a bit of a dead duck for the rest of the teams as theyve nothing to play for, but why after all these games should it come down to a one off game to make the final? its not on imo. Something else that irks me is that we will potentially play Leeds 5 times this season! That's crap too.
I like the regular season and the split into 3 table of 8, but I think we need a re think when in the super 8's.

Leeds won't relinquish top spot and Saints despite what is said on here continue to win. The losses at Catalan, Cas, Warrington and Saints where we served up absolute dross has cost us.
We slag Saints off but let's be real about it, they know how to get the win, and I for one think they will make the final yet again probably against Leeds who will win the treble this year.
The only thing we can do now is win and win heavily in our next two matches to make a statement and put the fear in Leeds and Saints going into the buisness end of the season.
It makes a pleasant change to read a post with such honesty. But we couldn't expect otherwise from GOD
We have been a mix of average to down right terrible this season, a season to forget so at least have one last final push to make it to the final and win it.

Re: Super 8s
We have been brilliant at home (bar salford but won) and have the best home record in SL.
Away from home is almost the opposite.
We have only won at the home grounds of Wakefield and Huddersfield, drawing at Widnes and losing the rest, sometimes in the most dreadful fashion. Hull FC away next.
If we are to improve the away form then we have to play better and bring about improvements. Conversations behind the sticks away from home are unrepeatable on here but go along the lines on predictable, boring, no confidence, poor and predictable squad selection, team and tactics other coaches knew 3 months ago. A Brian Noble semi final team but can't make the semis any more.
Fans spend a lot of money supporting us away from home and they've been let down big time this year.
Now is the time to bring about real changes in squad selection and tactics to make the improvements we need.
We need to win away from home and same old same old just won't do it.
Come on get it sorted!

Consistency is the key and it's not one of our traits!
It will take an unbelievable change to get to OT!?!
