It amazes me the negativity shown by some posters.
The club is doing something here that the gang of 4 would have done and they should IMO be commended for ambition and aspiration. Credit where credit is due. The club for me deserves masses of credit for an activity that will help build Wigan RLFC and RL. Wait until the RU WC arrives and then you can complain about being swamped by Union!
Sorry cp, I had to highlight & titter at your remark. You have been, for the majority of the season, one of the negative posters you're referring to
Now before you start goin off on one, I'm joking, it just made me titter that's all ????????
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Just had a look, there were three, but not sure which.
Add me, it may be easier.
I'm down to earth, more fat barsteward than voluptuous & I will confirm to the doubters
I sent you a message - but may be in your 'other' box.
I'm the one in a straw hat!
Got it & replied

Wandering Warrior wrote:As I said, should be interesting. I have a season ticket and won't be going, otherwise engaged. However I wouldn't be turning out, free seat or not, to travel down to London, early doors and getting home some six hours after the match.
Wembley in a Challenge Cup final is another matter, but I'm sure you get my drift.
I some tickets at £35 and yhought you are having a laugh.
What do you see as being a reasonable turnout?
Is Reg Bowden still alive?

Josie I'm surprised at you. Surely you should have corrected him and told him to get a cherry & white rugby shirt
You have to give a bit of leeway to new followers, they will soon start to know it's "cherry & white"!

Somebody has already mentioned the high price of tickets, I wonder what IL considers a good turnout and the venture a success?
I suspect we'll never get a true answer to that question.
It's a must win from the team point of view, should be interesting.
Actually it was introduced to London much longer ago than that. Moving the Challenge Cup final in 1929 was an attempt to expand the game down south and there has been periodic attempts ever since. There was (formerly Wigan) London Highfield that ran for a couple of seasons before moving to Liverpool after failing to develop anything. There was a businessman in the 30's who tried to form a league of six teams which never really got off the ground due to lack of RFL support, although there was a couple of teams which formed as a result. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streath ... m_R.L.F.C. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acton_a ... n_R.L.F.C.
Ultimately nothing came of it, and nothing has come out of anything else since.

There you go then,i do wonder why the game didnt take off down there it has always puzzled me
Its because people expect it to "take off". Sport doesn't work like that unless there is a huge underlying demand that isn't met - like with NFL in London.
Any other sport has to put down long lasting roots and build tradition. Our problem is that we've tended to try something for two years then give up because it didn't "take off" and the business model assumed that it would do. The original Aussie investors in Gateshead even had this business plan as it turned out. The War of the Roses, the Origin Series, Exiles, mergers, it just goes on and on.
The Broncos are a small exception to our short-termism and they and the other London clubs hold the best chance of the game gaining a foothold there. I have my fingers crossed that they can make a SL return, but I fear it will require a financial backer in the short term. I wonder what Marwan could have done in the London market if he hadn't gone for Salford. We'll never know!
