Also confirmed that taking up 3rd year of his contract but likely to move onto a new challenge after that.

Re: Sargenson
Sarge needs to improve significantly. He has potential but he has plenty of mistakes in him particularly not feeding his winger when it is on. Mind you one flick pass for England v Aus and his agent forced a very handsome pay rise from Wigan and many fans suddenly though he was the new Gene Miles.

Re: Sargenson
His attitude and commitment are commendable but for me that should be a given!!

Very much. There is a hell of a lot to like about Sarge the person/player.TrueBlueWarrior wrote:His attitude and commitment are commendable but for me that should be a given!!

Re: Sargenson
He's already signed a contract elsewhere for 2017. We need to move heaven and earth during the next 12 months to sign Percival from Saints and pair him up in the centres with Gildart.nathan_rugby wrote:Also confirmed that taking up 3rd year of his contract but likely to move onto a new challenge after that.

Re: Sargenson
We already have Gells signed up for another 4 yrs (presumably after the club were informed that Sarg was moving elsewhere). Gildart is looking good and we have Higginson and Forsyth coming through in the U19s. Coupled with Joel and Bateman as back up I don't think we need any new signings or we risk losing some good prospects.shaunedwardsfanclub wrote:He's already signed a contract elsewhere for 2017. He may have signed elsewhere for 2017 but his words were "I will probably move on to a new challenge after this year because I like trying new things out and setting myself goals."
With some promising rugby from Gildart and Gellings form when fit this year, I think our two centre spots could potentially be ok for 2017.
Tomkins Manfredi Gildart Gelling Charnley Williams Smith is a very young back line but one with even more potential and the possibilty of some players having 5-10 years together providing injuries and departures.

God knows why he was given a deal that long. He is so average.doc wrote:

Bateman and Gildart's recent performances at centre tell you all you need to know about Sarge and Gelling. And it is neither of them are good enough.Gildart is looking good and we have Higginson and Forsyth coming through in the U19s. If a back rower and a kid look better than the incumbents then how lucky is Wane his hand is forced to play the better players? I doubt Bateman or Gildart would have figured in the centres without injuries.

Re: Sargenson
I personally do not think Bateman is anywhere near good enough to be a starting centre. Don't get me wrong he has filled in the spot and been solid but a starting centre at a club pushing for all honours? I think not.DaveO wrote:God knows why he was given a deal that long. I have rarely seen him make line breaks nor set up his winger or create space in attack. Yesterday he got absolutely trampled over by Inu as well making him look a bit lightweight and supsect against larger opposition centres, something I do not think should be happening to a 2nd rower.
