Hughes is behind Bateman, Farrell & Tomkins in the 2nd row.
Patrick was brought in as a prop. With him going and no word on Greenwood returning I think we need an experienced SL quality prop.
Saying for a while we should try and sign Liam Watts from Hull FC. After last Friday I'm convinced we should.

Why, after his season at the Giants, should he become a dual registered player again for Wigan when he can join a side in full throw of being rebuilt and one where has more chances for a regular place?
Yes I understand that BM, & wish him all the best, but how come LP got so much game time when Jack was sent on dual reg & couldn't even get a game from the bench?

It's crazy, I think we had the worse part of the deal tho :(
I would say it is because Patrick has been utilised more as a complete running forward and more like a prop. He has therefore been able to offer something which Hughes hasn't.

I would also suggest a lot of his appearances have been down to injuries/reshuffling rather than his performances.
.

With Bateman playing at centre and Lockers and Farrell out injured he would have got a lot of game time, enough for Wigan to make a true evaluation of his worth. The crying shame is that Wigan did not make him an offer and if they had he would have signed a new contract. All I can assume is that the club rate Burke, Lever, Lloyd etc more.

There aren't many available in SL.

WE promoted a very promising prop to the first team squad. Far better to use him for the odd game than sign an average player from elsewhere.

That's true but we are expecting these guys to make the grade at a very early age rather than being able to groom them in an under 21 competition. Props normally don't mature until later in their 20s so there is plenty room for improvement in the likes of Bretherton, Crosby, Sutton etc.

I like Brethy but I think that he needs to be more aggressive and get a bit of nastiness into his game.

This

Not sure how or why Tomkins walks straight into the team week on week however Hughes was never going to force his way into that back row irrespectively

Some call Hampshire saying he has "not proven himself from the Academy" which is a fair comment. However when players ARE given opportunities like Hughes has then you can see that talent develop and then the question gets asked, why did Wigan allow them to leave without giving them a fair go in the first team themselves?

You don't turn into a poor player over night.
I agree I don't think we utilized Larne well at all just a shame he didn't reach his full potential - I am happy for Jack he has worked hard and deserves a first team spot just a pity we couldn't accommodate him
