Obviously everyone will have seen the ridiculous signs as you drive into Wigan regarding Wigan being the home of the Premiership and Superleague
I dont agree with paying my taxes for the council to put them up, where these put up during the Rugby golden years? dont thinks so, so they are to support the football.... The football is here after all we RL fans have already paid for it through the Rugby. The increase in most things on match days. I am glad that they did not have the cheek to put ticket prices.. but the pies / beer / program... oh and the new shirt for next year just becasue it needs to have JJB as the manufacturer rather than patrick.. Whelan owns both.If the latics get relagated they get a paracute payment anyway so hes kinda safe for two years.. then the backlash will hit us all.
But these are the sacrifices we all will make to follow the beloved cherry (primrose blue) and whites
Lets refocus on geting RL being on the lips of everyone in Wigan, not the footie.
Our proud tradition is not a flash in the pan. Ancient and Loyal
What does everyone else think?

Well I was hoping they'd put Super League on the signs too. I see your point, but they've put both sports on. And Super League is on first on the sign too, so yeah I'm ok with them. But we'll still be Super League next season. Will Latics still be Premiership next season?
Hmmm questions questions. :sly:

Me thinks they're going to have to fork out for a new sign next year, or just scribble the foul "premiership football" graffiti out!standishcat posted:

WIGAN.... an RL and Prem Town
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, STOP YOUR WHINGING!
I really can't see any negative effect this has on rugby, Wigan boasts a Super League side and a Premier League side. I would have thought a Wiganer would be proud to see two sporting teams in their respective top division.
You expect ticket prices, program prices, food & drink prices to go up year on year, they've froze season ticket prices and raised the rest as you normally expect. Only gripe is changing the kit supplier to JJB but the away shirt is changed each season anyway so it's just the home one that is extra to fork out for, this has nowt to do with the football though.

I agree Rob, if everybody carries on whinging it will make us no better than the Latics fans who are always calling the rugby. I was speaking to somebody at work who is a staunch Latics fan. He said that the Latics fans hate the rugby so much because we have be-littled them for so long. I have been watching the rugby for 20 years and have never heard us taunt the latics. Granted we are a much more successful club than the Latics will probably ever be, so maybe they are jealous. However the clubs compete in two completely different sports, it's not like Manchester or Liverpool who both have teams in the Premiership. It annoys me that we can't support our home town team, I am a Wiganer born and bred and am proud to support both teams although the Warriors will always be my passion. Just think what the support would be like if we supported "Wigan". I accept that people will always prefer one sport to another, but surely we must try and be mature and ignore the minority that taunt us.

When we were on our way to Widnes I felt so proud pulling out of our estate and seeing Warrington road packed full of Londoners and Wiganers, big city people coming to a little town in the Northwest. Be proud, I would be extremely peed off if we hadn't been on the sign but we are, we're both there and that sign is like a mini list of things to be proud of.
