Powell started at 9 in the 0-28 win at Wire in the 8s last year. He was excellent and the intensity from our pack overwhelmed the opposition forwards.
Sam P also rescued the game at Hudds too. Dreadful first half and a miracle we went in 12-12 at half time. SP then played the full 2nd 40 mins and had a blinder. His passing and kicking game killed off Hudds and we won that 2nd half 6-20.
Powell is more than up to replacing MM, the team's success over the months MM is out will depend on the 9 interchange not the ability of Sam Powell.

Do you think I'm abusive SJ, please kindly advise when I have.SJ wrote:I must be watching the same game as Mike.Panchitta Marra wrote:Your watching a different game to me Mike.Mike wrote:We look better with Powell on instead of Micky Mac tbh. Have done for a while.
The 6 and 7 get it in the neck by many on this forum when it's as plain as a pike staff that our biggest weakness is the 9 position. But M M has the same sanctity as Sinfield had at Leeds without any real skills but brute force which doesn't equate with brains unfortunately. Contrast Brisbane 9 with what we've got and you'll see my point.

Re: Powell to step up.
McIllorum was carrying an injury most of last season, which may well have been why we didn't see him anywhere near his best.
Barring this leg injury I think we would have seen a much improved player in 2016.
I'm saying nothing about Powell here for fear of abusing some posters on this site.

Re: Powell to step up.
MM clearly had injury issues in 2015 and was not the player he can be. He then scored 2 tries first game, was very good in defence against Hudds in a poor team performance and then badly broke his ankle in the 3rd game after starting very well. Like I said previously as with Blake Green, sometimes you don't know what you have got till it's gone, hope I am wrong!!Panchitta Marra wrote:McIllorum was carrying an injury most of last season, which may well have been why we didn't see him anywhere near his best.

No PM you have never abused me to my knowledge. I'm only sorry you have thought. I was making any feference to you. I can categorically say judging from your posts your not that type of person. For the avoidance of doubt re-my stance on the above topic I share TEDs views on SP. Again I apologise for any misunderstanding I appear to have caused NB. The only reference I make to your good self is where you refer to Mike by saying he mustn't be watching the same games has you(or words to that effect) I made my post to say that I had seen games in question the same as him hence you appear in the preface of the said post in that context only. Once again accept my apologies. PM,
I have been abused on here many times before, including by people on this thread, but its an internet forum so it goes with the territory and Mike in my opinion manages it really well. With us being joint MM number 1 fan I don't think we ever have to worry about abusing each other plus you don't talk s*** which helps!!
