Gelling is not the perfect centre but PM is right, on the basis of last night he is in our best centre pairing and he has been our best centre since the season started IMO.

Gildart is indeed going to be a great Centre and future International, but the fact remains that he is still inexperienced and needs to be handled carefully with first team appearances.

Last night, he was outstanding against Leeds, but in the previous home game against Salford who were better than Leeds, he had a poor game.

I for one do not want to see any up and coming young player ruined by more experienced players as was the case in the seventies with a young outstanding Prop Forward called Dennis Ashcroft who was played far too early on a regular basis and by the time he was in his mid twenties was a spent force and faded from the game.

Wane to his credit as a former good player knows how to handled up and coming young players as he has shown with Williams, Crosby, Sutton, Burke, Tierney etc.

The difference is WW he played in his natural position last night and got the better of an international player.

I may have missed something but he has been pretty good in every game. That pass to Manfredi to get a victory at the death was damn mediocre (err good )

His big test is this coming week. Both he and Bateman will need to be at their best defensively in our 20 v Kev Brown.

Gelling and Tautai have more detractors on here than any other players. Yet their combined split second play for Manfredi's try was nothing short of sublime!

It was a great try. The second half came on the back of a great first half where we took any energy Leeds had from them.

Fully agree SEFC and said it to my Mrs. Watkins isn't playing at his best, but you can't take it away from young Olli, how he outplayed him and how well he's playing in general. A natural centre, playing centre and I think he'll get better the more he plays 4.

It does not matter which position he plays, the fact remains that he is still a young player finding his feet in the first team squad and should be handled carefully where regular selection this season is concerned.

Yes, he did get the better of Watkins last night in a poor Leeds performance by their standards and Watkins may be outstanding in attack, but times his defence leaves much to be desired, especially at International level as was shown in the last test series against New Zealand.
