Re: Bateman official statement
I suppose the most important point going forward is Bateman's midset. I hope that he wants to put this behind and become the great player we know he can be. Certainly, there must be scope for him to do so. I think one of the key points to arise from this is that the team and the squad and the coach are separate from the club and management. If Bateman wants to play on, the onus is entirely on the coach to make that happen.
I am cautiously delighted that he is staying, but would have preferred fewer games and more cash!

Well apparently he was having coffee with SW and MM so I assume things are good between them, love to have been sat round that table! 3 great characters!!

Well done Wigan
I've been one in the past that's had a pop at the way we deal with situations and the lack of information coming out of the club on things like late injuries etc, but in this case they're spot on. We as fans don't need to know exactly whats happened, they've told us the matter is dealt with and when he will be back.

I'm really pleased that the club has sorted this out in the way that they have. I was convinced that he was on his way out. That's a massive fine for someone on his wages and the missed matches will really hurt us.
I hope that the players can now heal any rifts in the camp and that we can hit top form for the end of the season.

The club have always been spot on with things like this as they were spot on with the Flower incident.
I do know as a few others do what happened and it is good it is kept behind closed doors. It would not benefit any fan knowing exactly what happened.
Well done again the Wigan Club

Correct WW. We always set the standard when it comes to dealing with misdemeanours and the management of the club should be applauded for doing so.Wigan Watcher wrote:The club have always been spot on with things like this as they were spot on with the Flower incident.

I would like you to be right but I don't think so.Billgreenwoodsson wrote:I am happy with the outcome. We must trust the Club and I hope JB will learn from this, become a great player he is capable of being and will stay with us for years to become a legend. John, you are capable of being as great a player as Ellery Hanley so please do not waste your talent.Be strong, lad.
