Brian's come in for a lot of criticism from the crowd around me recently which is unfair. I think they expect him to score with every touch but he always gives his all.
I don't think the critisim is unfair. He has, like a number of players had a poor season which wasn't helped with all the speculation about his future in the eyes of the fans.
I agree with the earlier comment about Faz. He let the team down as he must have known he wouldn't be playing for us this season yet we had to include him in our salary cap, then when everything became official it was too late to do anything about it. What did he tell us the day after the Challenge Cup last year when the team came home to the JJB? He said he'd be there to win it for us this year.
And I for one believe he meant to be. I am certain he would not have lied to the fans like that and that the move to RU came about very quickly and after our season started. I don't believe he knoew anything about it at the end of 2004.

Carney on the other hand had already had his wish granted. He had a contract lined up with Gold Coast at the end of the 2006 season which was the end of his Wigan contract.

He is leaving early to go to a different team for one season having asked for an early release rather than seeing his deal out here as he definately said he would.

So if you are upset about players not doing as they say, them Carney is guilty of that as much as Farrell.

I dont Like what he has done regarding his contract, but it is now or never as far as trying somthing new, he is 29 after all
But is it isn't now or never. He has a deal lined up with Gold Coast for after his Wigan contract was up at the end of 2006. So he was going to get his wish to play in Australia and he didn't need to exit his contract early with Wigan to do that.

Had he gone out at the end of next season having played as we know he can then he would have gone with my best wishes.

As it is he is going to play RL with his mates at Newcastle for one season and some of the comments he made about wanting to do that didn't go down well with me at all. Basically he'd rather play for a different club for one season than us before joining his "real" Aussie side.

As a result I am not going to get sentimental about a player who comes out with the rubbish he did and quits a year early when he plainly had no need to.

Don't see why not - unlike Australia, we can't afford the luxury of not selecting players simply because they don't play in SL. It doesn't affect Morley, so why should Carney be any different?

I am officially in mourning. So sad that he is going. I know the last 2 seasons have been awful for him and the fans. People often vented their frustrations on this board. Hopefully, I'm off to Aus next year to see him play at the end of the season. Roll on next year :)

He just ran out on the last year of his contract despite having a deal with Gold Cosst in 2007.

I have no time for players with no commitment to deals they sign. Escpecially when their future is sorted the way they want as Carney's is.
