Of those listed I have gone for Anderson simply because I want some off-field discipline and professionalism instilled into the players.
Far too many tales of drinking for my liking and I reckon we need a coach who will stand away from the players and take no nonsense.
You could say Hanley and Edwards would do that but they would be high risk as they have little or no RL coaching experience, especially recently.
Of the other Aussies, Farrar and Sharp I have no idea about as coaches and Bennett is as likely to come as Raper is to stay IMO.
Tony Smith is a sideways move at best for the club. It's not two weeks since we were slagging Hudds off for poor dull tacticts (slowing down at the PTB etc) so do we want thet here?

There will be a lot more speculation before the season is out. I still think Shaun McCrae is the best coach in Super League but would he come to a club where the chairman signs the players for you on his annual Oz holiday? I don't think McCrae would come and I'm not a fan of Ellery Hanley. Great player but arrogant and a bit out of touch.
Re: Who should coach the W...
I agree Dave I have voted for Anderson as a strict disciplinarian. I think we have become very sloppy in defence and the one thing all Anderson's teams have had is good defence.
If there is a drink culture at wigan I am sure he will stamp on it and if this means heads rolling then so be it.

Mike Gregory AND Adrian Lam
Re: Who should coach the W...
That could be an interesting combo. I wonder if Adrian would be interested in becoming Assistant coach? I think his experience could prove invaluable. Personally though i think that it is already sorted for Chris Anderson to take over next season.Uncle Joe posted:

According to Rugby League World Maurice is after Wayne Bennett and they seem to think he is ready for a new challenge and we are certainly that!

Re: Who should coach the W...
We need a coach who can instill discipline & motivation into the team and is also creative in his approach.Too many times over the last seaso & a half we have suffered from inconsistent defence together with a complete paralysis when faced with a good defence.
Whilst I like Raper I'm not convinced of his coaching abilities because of the above.
In the glory days every player would die on the field rather than lose & we seem to have lost that passion & belief on a match by match basis. One week great.the next week poor.We now have a bunch of kids who are Wigan through & through & we can build on this.
The drinking culture is a problem at Wigan & I understand that Raper was not entirely blameless in this regard.
My votes theerfore go to Hanley who would instill 100% professionalism in the team and Anderson or Bennett for the above reasons.
Given a choice ,probably Bennett.
In the meantime lets see how Gregory shapes up..you never know.I alsi think that leaving it untill the end of the season is the right decision so that Greg can focus on the remaining games.
Ulltimately 8 coaches in 10 years & 6 in 6 years is shamefull.

there is no doubt shaun edwards was one of the best players ever to display his talents on the hallowed turf, but why should we damage his reputation when he fails coaching our beloved cherry and whites.
