You can't take anything away from Tierny this last few weeks but a bit like the discussion with Sarge it is whether or not he can do it consistently that will ultimately prove if he's good enough.

At the start of the season when Wane named him as fill back in Sam's absence I thought he was bonkers and to be honest I don't think I was proved wrong. He didn't do so well on the wing either at first easily being tackled and dragged about but over the last few weeks he has improved a great deal. Maybe playing to his strengths is the key - his pace and elusiveness.

Whatever it is/was, an obvious weakness in the side wasn't one any more which is a cred to the player and coaching staff.

Safety under a high ball seems to be the last skill that wingers develop(and Josh was awful under one bomb on Saturday)so I wouldn't worry too much.
I can't recall a young player developing that quickly when thrown in at the deep end-all credit to him and there weer times in broken play when he showed real potential.His Dad was hardly the biggest player on the park and he always punched above his weight.

I guess I've been one of many who thought he wasn't 'Wigan standard', but it'd be churlish to deny that he hasn't looked much better towards the end of the of season. As others have said, he's just still a kid, and there's plenty of room for improvement.

I love this boy! He tries so hard & will play wherever he is put. He is so happy & always tries to give his best.

He's such a cheeky chappie, he is like Gells, enjoys life & lives life to the full.

Josie - Do you know, whether his father was at the Grand Final?
I know Jason has watch him play in the past.

Not too sure, but I would be surprised if he wasn't. I'll ask Lewis & let you know ????

It's none of my business and apologies if I should know the answer, but wouldn't Lewis call Mr Tierney his dad? These things are complex for a lot of people and i wouldn't want Lewis to feel any awkwardness. He can beat a man, though which can't be coached whereas much of the rest can be learnt.

And as an aside, did anyone see Billy Boston at the game? The TV cameras didn't pick him out and normally they do lock on for a couple of seconds.

No, I didn't see him, Billy, there
