Bulls in for Newton

Post by Warrior Wills »

Can someone please tell me that this rumour is not true?

Terry Newton is to become a Bradford Bulls player next season.

We don’t want to players of the caliber of Terry Newton to be leaving the club.

Why would Bradford want him?? They already have the best hooker in the league in Jimmy Lowes. Newton doesn't have the same impact in the really big game as Lowes.

I'd pick Terry before any other hooker in the SL.

Because Lowes is retiring at the end of the season, that's why. They don't really have a ready-made replacement so they will have to look elsewhere.

It would be a shame if Newton goes, I think he's a much better player than he ever showed at Leeds, but on the other hand there has to be some reason why Mark Smith has stayed at Wigan for so long despite getting little gametime - has he been promised Newton's place in the team from next year?

But I thought Terry was still contracted for next season, and unless Terry wants to go there's no reason for us to release a player mid-contract to go to another team.

Don't be so blinkered Wills!! Lowes has more creativity in his little finger than Terry. Newton had the potential to be the best League player in the country, if not the world, but chose to booze it up, hes a wasted talent who has had his best years. Wigan should cash in on him now

I think it's you that is on glue, people on here need to wake up,Newton has not played well for ages,he's not in the same class as Lowes or Cunningham for that matter,he's so predictable and was hopeless against Leeds!

This rumour surfaced about a year ago when the Bulls realised they had no replacement for Lowes. Adding fuel to the fire, Newton was due to be out of contract when Lowes retired. Newto expressed a wish to stay at his hometown club, the club acted and signed him on an extended deal (do you not recall this?) and everyone was happy. Furthermore why would a Wigan lad want to depart his hometown club for Bradford. I may be biased but surely we are on the verge of becoming the dominant force in the game again. Bradford would be a backward step. it shows a distinct lack of imagination on the part of Bulls fans to try and resurrect this rumour. Newton's going nowhere, in fact there's more chance of Brett Kenny making a reappearance in a Wigan shirt. If you think that Lowes is a more effective player then it just goes to show that they are not all locked up.

Latics still without a win!

Wow, your argument is as one dimensional as Newtons game. How can u say a move to Bradford would be a backwards step? I'm not denying that the future looks bright for the Warriors, but they are far from being a dominant force in Super League. Top five every season, is guaranteed with Wigan but Bradford are nigh on guaranteed a Grand Final place each year, you take your pick??

If you call a hooker who constantly kicks the ball out on the full, or kicks in dead in goal, pick Lowes.
He also back chats and gives away stupid penalties. The mans a weak link and Bradford know it !

In Newtons defense he has been playing with a niggling injury for the majority of this season, which may of led to a dip in form.

But lets face it there are two great hookers in the SL. That drug taking cheat from Saints and Newton.

Personally I’d pick Newton. The mans a complete player. Plus, he is a hard bas***d !
