I think he has been good all season.

Agreed. Whilst I didn't go so far as some, I admit I had doubts about Joel at times last season. Good to see him performing so well, and providing some of the leadership we need.

But when he was out injured (as are Sam T and MM currently...) there was apparently no way he should walk back into the team....

I am sure some people can see where I am coming from here.

With a full squad to choose from I wonder if he would have got back so quickly?

For me Joel looks fully fit finally perhaps for the first time since his return whereas to use his brother as the example he didn't last season and after the big op he had it was always going to take time to recover from, but using the same set of rules Sam shouldn't have been anywhere near the first team last season as his form simply didn't warrant it.

It's all moot though as Wigan seem to be heading down the well worn cobbled road that's called injury street and both MM and Sam will get the call up as soon as they're declared fit.

He played ahead of Isa in the WCC with a fully fit forward pack to choose from.

To me, he's doing well this year but will struggle to not give away penalties if we keep expecting him to do 80 minutes. He's not as fit as Farrell or Bateman are, he can't do 80 minutes and be as effective throughout that as those two, but it's a positive start to the season and he did it tough yesterday because he didn't get a chance to rest with the two early injuries in the back row.
