injuries to the back and the lack of go forward are linked. I think DaveO mentioned it. Our 1st choice wingers and centres make good metres on exit and also have the ability to get a quick ptb's, this then allows the forwards a rest at times but also means they get quick ball moving forward.

I was screaming last night for us to use the big fellas when we were trying to bring it off our own line.

The lack of centres mentioned earlier may give Bateman a chance to ease his way back in, if gelling is the only fit centre then following a big shoulder injury it might be good for JB to play in the centres for a while to reduce his workload. Just a thought.

Finally, i love seeing youngsters play but for me Forsyth is nowhere near ready for the 1st team. He is shocking with ball in hand.

Dead right. We have to be realistic and are doing ok in the circumstances. All teams will have dips but none could do as well with a similar injury list as we have right now. Things will change and it could be worse we could be Wire fans who aren't doing too well despite it being their year (again)
Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Ideally we need to convert a win ASAP. Trying hard is great but the present players are simply keeping the score down by working to the point of exhuastion. No loss has been embarassing but it might hit that at some point.

I agree just we need bodies back fully fit soon or will be an uphill struggle if we are seeing June and playing the side we have now.

Why are we in this situation regarding injuries last season and this season ??? and why are most injuries three quarters.
My take on this is we use the wingers and centres to do the forwards job of running the ball out when we are on our own line and the opposing team is geared up to defend to keep us in own half.

Look at the injuries to the outside backs:

Burgess - he was carrying the ball out of defence, and was injured under the tackle from three Leigh players.

Tierney - he was chasing a kick down the wing and twisted awkwardly when he kicked the ball back to Gelling.

Manfredi - Rangi Chase's tackle.

Gildart - Ferres'assault, injured back. Can't remember how he picked up his previous shoulder injury though.

Gelling - how did he get injured?

So, the injuries look largely unrelated and it's just bad luck, rather than some issue with our tactics (or dare I say it, how we train).
Footballers spend 90 minutes pretending they're injured. Rugby League players spend 80 minutes pretending they're not.

I honestly think we are doing ok considering.....take that many players out of any other super league team and wigan would put 60 on them( with a full team).....its the back row and centre injuries thats killing us........i said pre season that the centre position is our weakness..... we have hardly no backup......... bateman does a great job there but obviously injured as well........ if MM returns doon i would like to see him given a chance in the back row........ come the end of the season i have no doubt we will be the team lifting the silverwear
IF YOU STRIKE ME DOWN I WILL BECOME MORE POWERFUL THAN YOU CAN POSSIBLY IMAGINE

Quite and it is rapidly getting to the stage that what doesn't matter is why we lost (injuries, bad ref, poor play, just not as good as we think we are) but that we lost another game.
Exactly. These defeats *do* matter. and will matter even more if we get turned over by Saints and Wakey (far from unlikely on current form). The suggestion of getting Bateman back in the centres is a good one IMO, it may not be his best position, but he's done well there in the past (and for England, too!) and would bring some go-forward and steel to our three-quarter line. He's certainly much more of a centre than Willie Isa is.

But... how long is JB out for anyway?

Gelling felt a hamstring pull chasing back v Hull.

Bateman won't be back until June.

Last year it was mainly the forwards who were out, this year it's the backs.
