Excellent post and 100% orrect.
Re: Outside Backs
Very good points.
If it had been only one of the youngsters coming in, alongside the established first-choice players then they'd probably fit in well and do a decent job. It's because all four are second-choice that the task is pretty much impossible for them.

Footballers spend 90 minutes pretending they're injured. Rugby League players spend 80 minutes pretending they're not.

Agreed, Josh is a massive miss for us at present. Having said that our props need to perform better.TheDevil666 wrote:Excellent post and 100% orrect.

Re: Outside Backs
Before the season began it was heavily debated that Josh would be a big miss despite the return of Budgie.
It would appear that his loss is now proving costly given Manfredi's longer than expected absence and Tierney's injury?

Re: Outside Backs
We have done this before.
We went into the season knowing Manfredi was not available and had Budgie and Tierney as out wingers with the latter realy also only a newbie.
We did the same a few seasons ago when Thornley was one of our centres but was due out for six months and at that time Gelling and Sargeson were inexperienced.
It's not the "established" players we are missing but a sensible approach to the squad. We have more recognised 1st team standard forwards than we can play in the first 17 but a bit of bad luck in the backs with injury and we run out.

With the announcement of the forthcoming salary cap increases I can see Wigan moving to sign another prop and maybe even another second row-cum-centre, as you can never have enough of those
Finally I think the issue of us having all our eggs in the "Tomkins brothers basket" is really coming home to roost
