Wigan Warriors name squad for Good Friday Derby with St Helens

Michael Mcilorum set to return with Sean O’Loughlin and Joe Burgess also named in the squad

Last few tickets remain for the game

Wigan Warriors have today named the 19-man squad for the Good Friday Derby with St Helens.

Michael McIlorum is named in the squad for the first time since February last year after 14 months out with an ankle injury.

McIlorum is joined in the 19-man squad by Joe Burgess (knee) and Sean O’Loughlin (calf) who also return after time in the treatment room. Anthony Gelling, absent for the last two games, retains his place in the squad and will look to prove his fitness ahead of the game.

Tony Clubb is sidelined with a lower back problem with Romain Navarrete and Nick Gregson dropping out of the squad.

Just a handful of tickets remain for Wigan fans in the East and West Stands for this Friday’s huge game and fans are urged to purchase as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Tickets are available online HERE, from the DW Stadium Ticket Office and on the Ticket Hotline on 0871 6633 552.

Wigan Warriors 19-Man Squad
Joe Bretherton, Joe Burgess, Tom Davies, Morgan Escaré, Liam Farrell, Ben Flower, Liam Forsyth, Anthony Gelling, Willie Isa, Thomas Leuluai, Liam Marshall, Michael McIlorum, Frank-Paul Nuuausala, Sean O’Loughlin, Sam Powell, Ryan Sutton, Taulima Tautai, Joel Tomkins & George Williams.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Looks a lot stronger than it has recently, but it'll be interesting to see who makes the 17 for Friday.

Once we get the other absentees back, we are going to be a much different proposition than we have been.
Footballers spend 90 minutes pretending they're injured. Rugby League players spend 80 minutes pretending they're not.

Whether it's St Helens or not, this is a must win game to halt the recent slide.

Yeah - feel a bit sorry for the guys who are left out. It would have been nice for 'our' Romain to experience the Derby but needs must.
Don't care how much they want to win for Longy or whoever they choose to want it for - we need to want it more!!

It's good to have some experienced bodies back, Saints can't use injuries as an excuse with only Roby missing.

Much stronger squad. Shut down Fages and Smith, don't rise to the LMS and Wilkin niggle then slowly turn them over like a hog on a spit

I love it when Wilkins plays, guaranteed at least 5 penalties from him
