From Boston to Warrington

Post by Latchford Albion »

How many of you were at Wilderspool Stadium a few weeks back and saw the great Billy Boston on the pitch before the game?
Were any of you wondering what was going on. Well, if you were, you should know that Billy was being presented with a copy of a new book 'From Boston to Warrington'.
The book tells the story of Latchford Albion's 1953-54 Rugby League Challenge Cup campaign.
Latchford Albion are an amateur RL team from Warrington who became the first local amateur club to progress to the first round proper in the 1951-52 season (that's cvered in our first book). Two years later they made history in the town again. Their opponents this time for the two-legged cup-tie were the legendary Wigan.
Among the Wigan team was a 19 year-old former Welsh RU player, William John Boston.
If you want to read about those two games the book is available for £2.50 plus 50p postage fro Latchford's Youth Secretary Stuart Mcintosh of 41 Silverdale Road, Warrington WA4 6BT. Cheques made payable to 'Latchford Albion Club'. All proceeds benefit the club's Youth Section.
Thanks for your time
