It's very strange when you compare this to the Gelling situation.

Given what Gelling did, if FPN wants to go and live down under he could just do the same and walk out. Now granted if he did he would be unemployed but if you read Gelling's blog he was trying to get fixed up at NZW and the only reason he didn't he says is they had no room.

The point being he walked out but was still looking to continue playing RL so either Wigan could not stop him doing that or if they could, they gave him permission to carry on. So if Wigan really want rid of FPN his contract here is irrelevant. They either can't stop him or could just say "yes, fine, bye!".

So why is he still a Wigan player? Only one reason I can think of since contracts seem pretty unenforceable and Wigan rarely stand in a players way if they want out is he doesn't want to leave.

If he wants out I see no benefit from keeping him anyway. When Taylor wanted out the club didn't want him near the place so why would they want a disgruntled FPN here? As I said, surely it's better to top up and get rid and save some cash rather than having a disgruntled player around? I am pretty sure we have topped up other players salaries who have left in the past though I can't think who off the top of my head.

Maybe the truth of the matter is neither party wants to part company!

Surely it would depend on how much the other club wanted Wigan to contribute. Lets say he's on £150K. If the other club wanted Wigan to contribute £100K or more then it would be a no no for me. If it were £20K or thereabouts then I suspect Wigan would let him go.
