I agree with him as well. I thought Hull FC ran a combined reserve side with HKR? Maybe HKR's return to the top flight is what has killed that off (of course both sides should run one of their own anyway).shaunedwardsfanclub wrote:https://www.wigantoday.net/sport/rugby- ... -1-8948115

Don't get me started on this issue, it should be compulsory to have a reserve grade, but now as it seems mainly Wigan interested in the concept its time, maybe to shut it down?
Re: I agree with Rads
The Morons at the RFL killed to sport by not supporting reserves.
Any proffessional team sport needs reserve to succeed, how else can fringe player develop or youngsters get the experience needed to step up.

Without question it should be made compulsory for clubs to operate a reserve grade team.
If Halifax can afford to run a reserve grade then there is no excuse whatsoever for any super league club.
Instead, other clubs seem happy for clubs like Wigan, Warrington, Saints etc to plough resources into reserve set ups only for them to come along and pick off the players that don't make the grade.
A good number of players don't reach their full potential until they are in their early or mid 20's. How on earth can those players continue to develop without a decent reserve set up. Equally, players returning from injury should be able to have a game or two in the reserves. Instead they are thrown straight into first team action.
It's a disgrace.

I find it a little odd that Pearson harps on about the future of the game only to disband Hull's reserve setup,(though granted that odd situation with KR sharing the players, another cost cutting measure ) it's getting to the point of saying why bother with the reserves at it stands?
