Its not a good headline in fairness though I put that down to lazy journalism.

I'm not as massive Wane fan, but he said all he could imo.

Have to agree. I am not Wanes biggest fan think he is outdated but does seem that only the negatives are pickedJUKESAYS wrote:To some it doesn't matter what he says, they'll just cherry pick part of what is said to paint him in a bad light.moto748 wrote:I don't kno9w what people would have him say. He has to put a brave face on and make the best of it.
Top Line - The Buying/Selling of players is largely out of his control (That's Leneghan's responsibility ultimately).
In his shoes I would say exactly the same thing i.e. I'll do my best to keep the players we ant to keep, but if they decide to move on (In the main to test themselves and/or for substantially more money) I'll continue to work with the younger players we have and identify the best of them and push them through to the 1st team.
I mean, what do we do, Not buy/produce the best youngsters as we don't want them to be any good then we don't lose them?
Promote them and hope they fail so that others don't come knocking and want them?
I'd rather have 3/4/5 years really good service out of them and have the issue of keeping them than them fail and not contribute & the club fail.
out of his interviews. My positive on Wane is from what I have seen in Wigan players this season so far is really good. So focusing on the positives for the season I will worry about player retention when it happens. To be fair there's not a great deal Wane could do if a player wanted to leave any way. And him focusing on what he has available now should and I think is his priority.

Perhaps a better alternative would to say nowt in this instance? Then again he may have been drawn and he took the bait?Wintergreen wrote:I'm not as massive Wane fan, but he said all he could imo.
I personally don't find it good to hear though and he's effectively highlighting players for other teams, rather dumb really from him, but true to form.

Now why would you dare offer a balanced view and post more of what was said?JUKESAYS wrote:Just for Balance here's some of the rest of his quote!SJ wrote:Well he should be unless,as it seems he's settled for being a"feeder" team We can always MAKE a nother one. Meccano players anybody :sly:

A coach saying he is unconcerned about losing his best players is just plain stupid. He'd be plenty concerned if his best players got career ending injuries and it doesn't matter if the only thing you could do then is try an replace them because he'd be very concerned!
Wane's is an interviewers delight. He will always say plenty and still has not learned when to say little or nothing.
