v Catalans
If we had a left centre who could/ would pass the ball we would have scored 50.

He was OK. As he has been the last few games. Not brilliant, but OK. It's like criticism of him has become a meme that people just trot out.cherry.pie wrote:Needless criticism of Sarge who was one of our best players and barely put a foot wrong.
Re: v Catalans
A good run out for the team. Catalans started full of vim and vigour and looked like scoring a hat full in the first few minutes. Once we steadied and stood up to them they settled back into a rather half hearted run out, obviously thinking about not getting hurt for next week. We, at times, had so much time that the lads started to throw the ball about and enjoy themselves.
Our pack dominated giving the backs plenty of posession. Having said that it was tight untill just before half time when we scored two quick tries somewhat against the run of play. Sam bossed the game, Williams took on the line at will and Escare looked explosive coming on for Marshal. Sarginson looked excellent. I know that a couple of times he could have passed to Escare but I like to see a centre backing himself. In the forwards Greenwood had a walking day with all the space he found and Partington had his second good game in a row.
The only real downside was the injury to Marshall. He was just running across the defensive line when his leg gave way. He looked in an awful lot of pain.

Im sorry but in this case we had two occasions where Sarge stopped tryscherry.pie wrote:His carries were excellent. Every time he makes a break or we go wide he gets criticised for not passing to his centre, even if his centre is covered - it's like they think a centre should just chuck it to the winger every time he gets hold of it.
Since switching to the left side Sarge has contributed with hard work in the same way that Davies does but he's also been a threat in attack.
As you say, criticising Sarge has just become a meme. He could pass to his winger every time he gets the ball and someone will still come out with 'he never passes to his winger'.
1. Escare had a clear run to line, sarge didnt pass and tried to break through 2 player on the inside instead.
2. He kicked through for himself to collect if he had kicked to the corner again Escare was clear.
Apart from that he had a good game but if that match had been more even those two decisions could have been costly.
These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.
