Catalans are closing in on major overseas signings, according to the club’s football manager Alex Chan.
The Dragons have already recruited impressively ahead of 2019 with the acquisitions of Sam Tomkins, Matty Smith and Matt Whitley.
However, Chan, who was speaking to League Express about the Anthony Gelling saga, revealed they are still working on one more piece of business before 2019, and hinted it would be a signing that would catch the eye.
“I’m not at liberty to go any further other than to say we’re in deep negotiations with a top class player from the Southern Hemisphere,” he said.
“If we can get through what’s happened over the last few days we can start moving forward on that. Now it’s just down to Steve (McNamara) to assess. We’re lucky with what we’ve got this year.

Catalans close in on “top class” signing
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Does the salary cap not apply to Catalan? They seem to be signing a lot of players!

Sam's salary might not count Josie, presumably he'll be (one of ?) their marquee signings ?
Can't think Matty Smith would be "marquee" standard so they probably do have space available for another top 'name', as
I wouldn't think too many of their French players are on top dollar ?
