GET BEHIND THE TEAM !!!
I have to say that I was hugely disappointed with the poor turnout of Wigan supporters for the first match of the finals series.
I've been told that SKY said last night that there were between 7000 - 8000 Warrington supporters at last nights match, therefore this means we are looking at the fact we were possibly outnumbered at our own stadium. Truly appalling, I'm sure that you will agree.
Whilst in the supporters bar after the match I was told that a number in the region of 6000 people had given up season tickets due to the fact that the club had moved stadium.
Yes, I know we all loved Central Park but I think the time has come that the good of our team has to come before memories of the previous ground.
In recent times the club has come full circle and is again trying to put itself at the top of the ladder by using primarily local talent. Surely this must count for something.
I would like to end by asking anyone out there who has not attended a game since leaving Central Park, please switch off SKY, get down to JJB Stadium, and back your local team against their biggest rivals on Friday night.
You never know, you may like the new place and want to come back for more !!!

Re: GET BEHIND THE TEAM !!!
i think 6000 is exaggerated. their will be a lot of people like me who during the last season at central park got a season ticket purely to make sure that we did'nt miss the last game at central park. so called fans who dont go since the move to the jjb can only be using that as an excuse, but i bet they go the challenge cup and grand finals! i would say the was about 6000 warrigton there last night.
Re: GET BEHIND THE TEAM !!...
We heard a number of our fans who went to the match at Cas say they weren't going last night as they'd sooner watch it in the pub, I sure hope everyone turns out in force this Friday to welcome our visitors (!) and give them a hot reception. Wire supporters were absolutely fantastic I just wish we could bottle what they've got and give it to some of ours
Re: GET BEHIND THE TEAM !!!
I hope the team get the support they truly deserve - it's been a long time coming but it's clear we are more than capable of reaching the Grand Final and if fans can't be bothered to turn up for the game on Friday against the old enemy then it's a very poor do - c'mon, get behind the best team in the world and be VOCAL

You are both spot on with your comments
how often did these nostalgics go to
Central Park when it was empty given
that they were so in love with the
ground.

Last night was pathetic and it affected the team. When our team came out there was a bout 5 of us around me cheering and Kris Radlinski actually looked up into the south stand probably thinking, "Is that all?" When the whole stadium gets going it literally buzzes. It felt like a lot less people had turned up than actually had last night 'cause the support was sh*t. Let's actually try opening our mouth wigan "supporters" next Friday.

Re: GET BEHIND THE TEAM !!!
yes the support wasn't the best on saturday but in my view off it is that must off the wigan fans were like the players on saturday and that is already talking about the st helens game i.e the first we were bad then got going when they thought it my not happen.i'm much the same as rest off you a life long wigan and does bug me to see all those empty seats but i have no doubt if your not there 7.30 on friday your not getting in without a ticket because if we don't fill it saints will.ps i qued for my ticket after the match with many overs.and i don't if people don't come because i'll just sing even louder come on
Re: GET BEHIND THE TEAM !!...
Perhaps the poor attendance was because the match was played on Saturday evening. I've said for a long time that a 6pm kick-off is ridiculous when people are working until 5 or later. Lots of people from outside of Wigan (and there are many of us) can't get there so early. There's no sense having an 8pm kickoff on a Friday but a much earlier time on a Saturday.
Of course, I'm assuming there are lots of unemployed people in Warrington who had no excuse not to travel...

Re: GET BEHIND THE TEAM !!!
Don't believe all that eddie and the bald one say. The north stand only holds around 5000 and it wasn't full. In the league express this morning it states an official count of 4500 wire supporters. The crowd of 14000 was about what I expected, but lets hope we can hit the 20000 against the scousers.
The atmosphere on saturday was great inside the stadium, so all you armchair and pub watchers, get down and sample a live atmosphere for once.

I don't know for sure if there were more Wire fans than Wigan, but to be honest it would have been a close call.
The fact is there wasn't enough fans there supporting Wigan - it was pathetic. They sung us out of our own ground which is an embarrassment to those Wiganers that did go.
If the Central Park faithful were true Wigan fans then we could play league games at the training ground and you should still support - not sit there at home years on still sulking!
Sad, but true as it is, Central Park was outdated. I would be ashamed to be at the top of the league playing at a ground like Knowsley Road is today - and they're meant to be champions. What does that say to visiting Aussie clubs about RL over here!
The fans of places like Warrington and Hull are embracing new stadiums with open arms, not having the attitude that some of our fans still have. Fair enough, it was "home", but how long could we face those toilets for at Central Park?? How long before the rest of the stadium started to fall down and we would have to rebuild the rest like the Whitbread Stand???
Be realistic - we couldn't have carried on like that for many more seasons than we did.
