Paper Talk: Barrett to Wigan,
We’ve had a flick through the latest copies of League Weekly and League Express.
Wigan linked with Barrett
Following what looks like a u-turn by Shaun Edwards to take the Wigan Warriors coaching job from next season, another former favourite at the club has been doing the gossip rounds in upper circles over the past few days – Trent Barrett, report League Weekly.
The former Australia and New South Wales representative played 60 games for Wigan in the 2007 and 2008 seasons, scoring 29 tries. Whether this is to come in as an assistant to Adrian Lam, or on his own, time will only tell. League Weekly claim Barrett to Wigan on a three-year term.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

He’ll only be here 3 years if he leaves his Mrs in Oz!

Trent Barrett on Wigan’s radar – reports
Wigan are targeting their former player Trent Barrett to return to the club in a coaching capacity according to reports in today’s League Weekly.
They claim the 41-year-old is on the verge of signing a three-year deal with the reigning Super League champions from the start of next season.
There is still uncertainty around the future of Shaun Edwards, the club’s proposed new coach from 2020, who looks to have made a u-turn on taking charge at the DW Stadium.
Chairman Ian Lenagan appears to have finally lost patience with Edwards and will now turn to another ex-cherry and white fans’ favourite to ease the blow.
Barrett is a former Australia and New South Wales stand-off and played for the Warriors in 2007 and 2008.
He was the face of the club in those two seasons, helping to cement Wigan back among the elite after a turbulent few seasons on and off the pitch.
It’s unclear yet whether he would become head coach or be assistant to current boss Adrian Lam, who has had a difficult start to his tenure.
Barrett resigned as head coach of Manly at the end of 2018 after a season dominated by off-field controversy saw them finish second bottom of the NRL table.
Despite this, his potential appointment at Wigan would likely be greeted with warm approval from the fans after weeks of uncertainty.

Re: TB to Wigan rumour
Well SE should make up his mind now....... if this rumour has any truth in it then lam/trent can see where we are weak and start recruiting for this and next season...... this, imo , is why we havent replaced hamlin already
IF YOU STRIKE ME DOWN I WILL BECOME MORE POWERFUL THAN YOU CAN POSSIBLY IMAGINE
Re: TB to Wigan rumour
Personally I wouldn't want Trent Barrett but if this does happen at least we can move on from this sorry saga. The sooner they get it sorted the sooner they can turn their attention to recruitment for next year.

Jury’s still out for me on Barrett? Didn’t see anything at manly, when he coached there, that caught my eye.
