Wayne Bennet will leave his role as England and Great Britain head coach when his contract expires next week, according to The Mole.
The 69-year-old took charge in 2016 in the aim of guiding England to victory in the 2017 World Cup, where they narrowly lost to Australia in the final.
His popularity among British and English fans has since declined dramatically, not least on the back of the current Lions Tour, where GB have won none of their first three games against Tonga and New Zealand.
His conservative, structured style of play has also not gone down well with the public and will reportedly spell the end of his time as head coach.
It isn’t yet known who will take over, however Salford’s Ian Watson and London’s Danny Ward, who are both currently Bennet’s assistant coaches, are likely to be front-runners.

Reports: Bennett to leave England and Great Britain role
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Yes the GB tour has been a shambles but is this his fault?
He is after all England’s coach not at least as swift bit of cost cutting by the RFL the GB coach,I’m not so sure, his remit was to get them ready,England that is for the next world cup which is what 3 games away now once the tour ends, what good is changing coach going to do now?

He’s one of the great coaches, do we expect others to be more successful? I think not.fozzieskem wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 1:09 pm Yes the GB tour has been a shambles but is this his fault?

Wane with a couple of attack assistants.
Wane and Harris and Watson.
Wane and Harris and Watson.
These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.

Don't think Wane would have Harris working for him.
Agree Wane to Head Coach and Watson to assist.
