We have our smaller squad and....... nothing. I wonder how much the probability of another shortened season is influencing the decision makers. Perhaps with fewer games we may be able to compete on the basis of fewer games = fewer injuries. We could be up against a couple of teams throwing some monsters against us and depending on our defence again. There again our youngsters can barely be called youngsters any more.
Club need one or two more departures before anything can be completed RE new Prop. it is all agreed, just need the dominos to start falling. hopefully gets done and said player doesn't sign elsewhere. Wigan extremely cautious regarding the salary cap, who can blame them going off past mistakes.

Fair enough, it just all sounds a bit mickey mouse agreeing terms with a player when you need 1/2 departures. Back in December it was 3/4 and a different prop wasn't it?Dan2266 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 11:00 amCall what you want I don't really care, just passing on what I get told when I get told. been right about countless things previously because of who the info comes from....nathan_rugby wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 10:34 amI’m calling BS. Why have Wigan and the prop agreed terms when player departures are needed?
1 or 2 departures... doesn’t sound specific. Sounds like club making it up as they go around and don’t have a clear plan on who is leaving.
its far from BS, its what the current situation is.
and without naming names your not getting much higher within the club.
The player in question already has a club and has been told he can leave.
Wigan can not afford to complete the deal until certain players leave. which Radlinski has gone as far as saying that publicly.
IF it doesn't happen its because of cap issues and players Wigan thought would be moving on, didn't.

Wigan wanted Robbie Mulhern, Personal terms were agreed, Wigan took the time in getting players out, Mulhern then signed for Wire, 1 or 2 players have left since the 3/4 statement, I can only assume that more need to leave for the club to be certain of maintaining salary cap requirements. I 100% know we are looking at a prop and have agreed personal terms with one, that is probably a case of "we want you, but you have to sit patient" rather than run the risk of not communicating with the player and then seeing him sign elsewhere.
I think we will see more movement when all teams are back in full training assessing their squads.

We are under the cap and have enough room to sign a prop without moving other players on, I can only assume, if your connection is telling the truth, then the player in question is top class and consequently he will command a higher salary?

Re: New Prop
I couldn't say anything about Burgess leaving but obviously when I said players need to leave before we can sign a new prop... frees up a lot of wages.

Re: New Prop
So are you claiming you knew all along that Burgess was leaving? If so, why was it only announced now?
OR
That the player we were lining up was the player to replace Burgess if he left?
