Re: Williams to Wire.
Adrian Lam has say on George Williams speculation as halfback 'closes in' on Warrington Wolves move
Williams is being strongly linked with a move to Warrington Wolves.
Adrian Lam admitted the prospect of George Williams heading to Warrington Wolves didn't sit well as speculation intensifies surrounding the halfback's future.
Williams is understood to be drawing increasingly closer to a Super League return, but it's Warrington, rather than his boyhood club, that appears to be his likely destination.
It's believed that Williams was close to signing for the Wolves before his immediate release from Canberra Raiders and while a deal that will see him join Wigan's rivals isn't thought to have ben finalised, it's growing increasingly likely that he will not be returning to the club where he made his name.
When asked about Williams' status, Lam said: "No doubt you'll hear something in the next week about whatever club he's going to, whoever it is, but it's the time of year where there's a handful of things going on, " he said. "I'm not too sure where it all is.
"It wouldn't be a great thought, George going to another club given he's a Wigan junior, but that's the bridge we'll cross if that's the outcome. Until there's any further news there's no real comment to make about that.
"I've got some players coming off contract here at the moment, we're trying to make sure we manage our squads as best as we can. I'm trying to get excited about players coming back into the squad never mind who's not coming. We just want to play rugby.“

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Re: Williams to Wire.
Been told off a good contact. Things not going to plan with wire signing Williams. He is definitely going there but a player at wire is not playing ball and others not happy and unhappy with the way they are trying to push Williams and other deals through he says all this will come back to bite wire on the arse.

Re: Williams to Wire.
I get the impression ,with all that's been going on the last year Simon Moran sees next year as wires best chance to be champions and he's going all out money wise to succeed. Hopefully all this has upset some of the players and it backfires big time. No matter how rich he is there's only so much money you'll waste on a dream

Re: Williams to Wire.
Would laugh me tits off if Leeds came in and signed him for 4 seasons reet under Wires noses

Re: Williams to Wire.
Doesn’t surprise me one bit that cages are being rattled at Wire. This is George Williams not Wally Lewis for gods sake.keptinthedarkfans wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 6:59 pm Been told off a good contact. Things not going to plan with wire signing Williams. Re: Williams to Wire.
It is obvious this deal was struck many weeks ago but the plan was for George to play for Warrington from 2022, hence it keeps getting mentioned that he is signing a three year deal. If that is the case then why were Wigan not all over this sooner? Whatever happens we need some serious recruitment.
Re: Williams to Wire.
Apparently the deal for 2022 is separate to the deal for the remainder of this season. The 2022 deal is the one that is supposedly signed.keptinthedarkfans wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 6:59 pm Been told off a good contact. Things not going to plan with wire signing Williams. Re: Williams to Wire.
If he as signed for 2022 and been paid by Aussies for remainder of year what is stopping him playing for wire rest of season for nothing. Serious question.
