The Hull KR halfback was leading the table, but all has changed.
Super League has adjusted the method to award this year's Steve Prescott Man of Steel to a points-per-game system - seeing Jordan Abdull dislodged from top spot.
The competition had operated its leaderboard for the award to find the competition's best player on a simple points ranking system. However, Rugby League Live has received confirmation that the Man of Steel table will now be ordered in a points-per-game method, changing the order of the table in the process.
Under the standard points system, Sam Tomkins and Jordan Abdull were level at the top of the table - but Tomkins now leads with an average of 1.9 points awarded per game, in contrast to the 1.6 Abdull has.
Abdull is now level-second, rather than the joint-leader, on the table alongside Jonny Lomax, who also has a 1.6 points-per-game score. The top five is still completed by Gareth Widdop (1.2) and Hull's Jake Connor (1.1), who were fourth and fifth on the previous table.
This is the second consecutive season Super League has moved to a points-per-game record to award Man of Steel to a player, after Paul McShane won the honour under the system last season.
It mirrors Super League's decision to organise the league table on win points percentage, rather than points.

Jordan Abdull loses Man of Steel top spot after drastic change to scoring system
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

You can't make it up can you.
Let's change it mid season....

These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.

How do they work the league table out on a % basis when some clubs have been ‘given’ wins due to their opponents forfeiting the game due to Covid? Surely they can’t count those games in with the reckonings!
No wait, I forgot this is the RFL we are talking about

I think that's a fair point. And actually, thinking about it, if percentages were equal, could it come down to points difference? And them those arbitrary 24 points that were handed out would come into play!josie andrews wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 8:19 pm How do they work the league table out on a % basis when some clubs have been ‘given’ wins due to their opponents forfeiting the game due to Covid?
