I'll bet the same fans would like to sign Brad Dwyer, who has missed more tackles than any other player!!

Wearing a bit thin, Meds. In how many of his tackles is he clamping the ball preventing an offload? And, even if was always 3rd man in, he's slowing down the ptb to give our defence chance to reset.medlocke wrote: ↑Sat Jul 31, 2021 1:13 pmAnd how many of those tackles are from 3rd or 4th man inNo straw damn us wrote: ↑Sat Jul 31, 2021 10:11 am So some fans want to get rid of the games top tackle maker?

But that's all theoretical...if you, and lots of others, bothered to check, Sam is first man in on a good proportion of his tackles. He's certainly not Daryl Clark or James Roby, but he bears comparison with Danny Houghton who probably doesn't get the flak from the Hull supporters that SP gets here.
His regular 90 minute stints also free up a place on the bench for another forward - if we signed Clark, for example, we'd need another 9 to play the other 40 minutes!

Or there may be doubts about Sam's fitness, which could mean the other two play 9 and bench? If he's fit, one or both don't make the 17?wall_of_voodoo wrote: ↑Fri Jul 30, 2021 9:31 pmI'm sure it was Nathan who pointed out Wigan under Lam do not use the inter change hooker option. When we have one on the bench it is purely to fill the bench not because Lam wants to inter-change Powell for any reason. Picking two hookers with Powell in the squad means selections are being made on numbers rather than tactics

If we signed Clarke we might win something. The only thing Powell can do is tackle and that means he’s not good enough. Even worse he’s so slow getting the ball away having done his stupid dummy virtually every play the opposition defence end up in the face of the player receiving the ball. Since Micky Mac left and Powell has become first choice hooker he’s been well and truly found out. God knows why anyone can’t see this by now.morley pie eater wrote:Wearing a bit thin, Meds. The idea because he does 80 minutes we can frees up a bench spot is irrelevant because it means we are stuck with a player the opposition can ignore on attack and they just have to worry about Hastings.

You can’t be first choice hooker in SL just because you tackle well. It’s one of your main pivots, and Powell gives us zero in attack. There is never any hesitation or doubt in the oppositions mind, they know exactly what he is going to do. Dummy one way, pass the other, and painfully slowly at that. Between him and Tommy they are killing our attack stone dead.
No wonder young Harry Smith is struggling a bit, because he gets precious little help from these two.

Its like the hankinson situation. People want him in the team because he can kick, he doesn’t offer much elsebertina wrote: ↑Sat Jul 31, 2021 8:34 pmI’m scratching my head too Dave.DaveO wrote: ↑Sat Jul 31, 2021 4:33 pmIf we signed Clarke we might win something. The lad played 6 games in first team then got injured was never able to kick at goal as Hardaker was the designated kicker.Would you rather have a centre playing in his own position or a forward Hankinson's winger Miski top try scorer .When a try is scored and the goal kicked making a 6 points try it boosts the teams confidence how many goal kicks have been missed this season we have scored less points than Leigh bottom of the table.

So you admit that Lam does not make changes based on performance then? If they are fit then they play and they play exactly like they have (allegedly) trainedmorley pie eater wrote: ↑Sat Jul 31, 2021 4:27 pmOr there may be doubts about Sam's fitness, which could mean the other two play 9 and bench? Dumbest decision in years to give Leuluai the captaincy and the next biggest would be giving it to Powell next season (unless we're give another extension to Leuluai)
I'm a better fan than you
Because I don't "Boo"!!!
Yes I bloody know transfer fees do not count on the salary cap for those illiterates that need it explaining to them because they assume everyone is as thick as they are

To me Lam making Tommy captain showed how weak a coach he is,it should have been a statement by giving it to say Harvard (for instance) and say to the world this is the lad who would lead the team for the next decade but he fluffed itwall_of_voodoo wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 10:36 amSo you admit that Lam does not make changes based on performance then?
