vs Castleford
Re: vs Castleford
i dont really want to add to the Powell debate but the mrs was watching last night, she has no idea whats going on just for reference and i had not mentioned Powell or his role.
In the second half she turned to me and said, "whos that fetcher carrier guy", initially i thought she was talking about a ball boy but no she explained she was wondering why one of our players just stands there and fetches it from one person and passes to the other, after trying to explain she said its a waste of a player.
I re-iterate, she has no idea about the other workload etc but just thought its worth pointing out that even people who dont know anything about it see the same issues.

I see alot saying Cas are one of the worst but I watched them vs Huddersfield where the did exactly the same thing. The lost the first half and then made a massive comeback in the second pushing Huddersfield all the way.Wintergreen wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 9:50 am As others have said, Pro's and Con 's.
Without Field we lose that game (you have to feel sorry for Lam in this regard)
Think about that. Without ONE player we would have lost, at home, to one of the worst sides in the competition.
That said, the tries were entertaining. We had some good performances (Partington and Smithies and obviously Field).
Plenty to work on. The obvious question imo is in the halves. When Tommy goes off, we look like rabbits in the headlights. I'm now convinced Smith is not the answer. We desperately need a solution there.
Cas are going to upset some big teams this season when they click.
These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.

To add to this, I don’t think Cust is the answer in the halves either. He’s not dominant enough and his kicking game is beyond patchy. The more I see him the more I’m convinced he’s a hooker by trade.Plenty to work on. The obvious question imo is in the halves. When Tommy goes off, we look like rabbits in the headlights. We are were are this season in terms of playing squad so I’d like to see Smith / Tommy in the halves for a spell with Cust at 9 but we know that’s not going to happen unless Powell gets injured.
Could Smith improve with the leadership of Tommy next to him? Possibly, possibly not but there’s only one way to find out as unless options are pretty thin on the ground.

Because the club are blinkered with Powell, always have been and always will. Its like Isa, great back up but now seems to be a certain starter. Partington showed last night he deserves a go at loose, but ISA will be back there.EagleEyePie wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 8:17 am .......It's so frustrating when he reverts to just pick and pass. It's not like he was overworked defensively. I've been hoping for us to go for an interchange hooking option and I can't understand why we haven't yet.
Just admit when things are not working, KPP did great in the first couple of games, now teams have worked him out and he's been quiet and even poor last night. Get him back on the bench as an impact player and Zak back to centre.

Easier said than done. Put Zak to centre and KPP on the bench and who goes to wing with Bibby out with illness? Miski?

A rare report from The Guardian. Adds to the debate about high tackles too.
The more who comment or like the comments the better - it will encourage The Grauniad to do better with its RL coverage.

The people paid to know more than us see something we don't

If the stats are correct then Powell made no metres last night which means he has made one in two games!

Powell and Isa are in the “leadership group”. As part of that they write their own contracts...
Should we have a poll on how long Powell’s new contract will be? My money is on 4 years, with an option for more for him to exercise at his leisure.
