Re: Trialist
I think we could sign an RU player even if they were originally Non-Fed RL?
According to BBC he is out injured for the season https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/61167195

Re: Trialist
I quite like the thought of looking for talent like Hull have done from the British Military teams and their Fijian players. They’ve signed a couple of really talented players these past couple of years. They seem potentially a bit short term as Union teams seem to have eyes on them but it’s worth a look.
Re: Trialist
Be good to find a line breaking centre with pace and good hands.

Shame, would have been a good signing imowiddenoldboy wrote: ↑Sun Apr 24, 2022 10:46 pm I think we could sign an RU player even if they were originally Non-Fed RL?

Re: Trialist
I. can remember the days when a triallist was put into the first team under A N OTHER. I am sure that sometime in the late 60s Wigan played an army triallist.
Re: Trialist
All union trialists were named as AN Other in the 'shamateur ru' days as if they were named as playing for a RL team they would be banned from Union clubs for life.
Re: Trialist
Strange how some memories stick. This player was a winger, played in an all white strip that Wigan used for a while (at home ) and had ginger hair

I should have added that I m sure I have a photograph in a scrapbook that I religiously made at the time
