Just a thought.
Our last 4 signings were Mago, Ellis, Thornley and Miski.

3 out of those 4 are in our 17 week in week out.

Prior to that we signed Field and Bibby who are in our 17 week in week out.

Whose progress are they halting?
Have any of those vastly improved the team?

Is Miski as good as Pat Richards?
Is Thornley as good as George Carmont?
Is Patrick Mago as good Craig Smith?
Is Thingy Ellis as good as Quentin Pongia?

Those are the type of standard of players we should be trying to sign
If you replaced all our players with the best Aussie/New Zealander of all time, wouldn't you have problems with the overseas quota? Not to mention the salary cap. It might be worth signing Ken Gee or Jim Sullivan though - I'll check if they're available . . .

They don't have to be Aussies, some Fijians would be nice as well

I think re-signing Field is an absolutely fantastic piece of business.
The emergence of Smith and O’Neill as our go to 7 and 9, plus Cust being so good, makes the picture much much better.
We have already let Hardaker go, Bibby looks like he is going, French may not stay, Tommy may retire, we may let Partington go. We do have to find the money for Havard and Powell will presumably be getting a massive pay rise :D . Even so, I would hope that we could get a couple of exciting 3/4s and a nasty prop... with what we have elsewhere that would do for me.

Honest mistake but only furthers my point more.

That isn't what the poster said and isn't what my response was aimed at.

Try again.

Really hope Powell isn’t getting a massive pay rise….. got to extend faz contract as well

Pat Richards was nearly run out of town in his 1st season. I was at Hindley tesco day after a defeat and he was getting pelters. Turned out very well after that.
George Carmont was a very uninspiring signing that turned out well too

so just going off names that we sign, isnt the best judgement as they may not be a big name, but can turn out well

The leagues best player this season got tied down early, so that’s a great start. I wonder if there is good news on extensions for any guys like Havard or Faz that they might release it in the build up to next weeks final but maybe wishful thinking. I’m still hopeful they might be able to get French to extend. I look around the NRL and it’s even more based around big wingers, standing 6ft 2 plus and weighing above 14-15 stokes than it was before he left and I don’t see a slot anywhere at fullback for him.

The squad definitely needs a re-jig and some good recruitment in the three quarters. Quality English centres are so thin on the ground but our quota spots are pretty packed. I wouldn’t be surprised if we moved for somebody like Reece Lyne, who is off contract at Wakey. He is clearly a player admired by Shaun Wane and you’d think he’ll have a decent say in recruitment, especially on the character of players he knows.

Off contract list has just been submitted. No havard Powell or faz. All 3 should have new deals by this. Very happy to to tie down havard considering the interest behind him a few years ago
