James McDonnell
I've heard we have offered him good terms and he is mulling them over
However, Adrian Lam really rates him and as such Leigh have come in with a bigger offer then Wigans.
Lam rates McDonnell so highly he thinks he would be great in the NRL. Rumours are that Mal Meninga is being looked at for a club coaching role with Lam as his no2 - meaning he would target him for recruitment to this unnamed NRL side
Warrington have also made a contract offer and Leeds have invited him to view the Headingley facilities with the intention of making an offer

Re: James McDonnell
Be daft to let him go. But at the moment we've got heaps of forwards

Re: James McDonnell
22 years old and barely played for first team.
No thank you.
Clearly not good enough and no space for him imo.

What are you basing that on? When did you last see the lad play? He will make a good prop forward in time.nathan_rugby wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 10:29 pm 22 years old and barely played for first team.

We cannot keep every single player that comes through.
It was on this forum everyone was discussing how we probably are spending too much cap space on all our young forwards who came through at a similar time, this would just be another example.
We don’t need anymore prop forwards and don’t really have space. Someone would surely have to leave?
Re: James McDonnell
If KPP leaves we should keep McDonnell. We have our usual problem of producing plenty class back row forwards. It seems if you are big lad then they stick you in the 2nd row regardless of speed/handling ability rather than trying to develop some big centres.

Re: James McDonnell
That's the problem wigan do produce a lot of similar players so of course some have to move on to make it

1. When did you see him play? How many times have you seen him play live?nathan_rugby wrote: ↑Sat Jun 11, 2022 3:06 amFrom the times I have watched him play.Charriots Offiah wrote: ↑Sat Jun 11, 2022 1:45 amWhat are you basing that on? 2. Your opinion of him comes across as he is not good enough! Is that what you think?
3. We don't keep all the players that come through our system but we try and keep the good one's.
4. It is irrelevant what people on this forum say about the salary cap at Wigan only the people in charge know the details.
5. He will move up into the front row in a few years time when he fills out.
6. We need good players and this lad has all the attributes.
7. Why would someone have to leave to make way for James? Please tell.
